The history of the Benicia Shooter Gift Shop dates back to 1945. The shop was founded by Mr. and Mrs. John Molloy, who ran it as a small business until their death in 2002. It is now run by their son, John Molloy Jr. The first shooter gift store in Benicia was located on Second Street between High Street and Elm Street. At that time, shooters could only buy rifles and shotguns at the store. In 1958, the store moved to its current location on Main Street between State and Polk Streets. The shop became a full-time business in 1963 when Mr. Molloy married Msgr. Jeanne O’Keefe from nearby Redding, California. During the 1960s and 1970s, the Benicia Shooter Gift Shop became known for its high-quality firearms products and accessories available exclusively from local retailers across California including Sears Roebuck & Co., Plumas County Gun Club, Pacific Sporting Goods Company (now Mike's Guns), Arrowhead Outfitters Inc., Golden Nugget Shooting Supply Company and various other gun dealers throughout the state networked through Gander Mountain Distributors Incorporated (later parent company of ammunition retailer Ammunition Co.) In 1984, Mr. Molloy Sr.'s widow passed away leaving him with ownership of both the shop and his wife's estate which included over $250,000 in assets including shotguns, handguns and rifle products alone In 1996/1997 after several years of discussions among family members regarding succession plans following her death; John Jr., then age 56 took over management of the shop with immediate responsibility for all sales operations within state-wide Gander Mountain distributorship Under his direction, new merchandise lines were added such as airsoft guns (introduced in 1998)and optics (opened up to public sale in 2003) while continuing to offer traditional firearm items like rifles & shotguns under separate departments From 2003 through present day; John Jr.'s sons have been responsible for overall management of both father's businesses but still maintain active participation as owners or managers of one or more departmental sections within each business . Sales activity has continued to grow especially since 2008 when AmmoCo opened up its own distribution center located adjacent to Main St .facility which helped increase sales by 50% year over year

When World War I beganWWI increased production of food commodities such as pork and oilseed crops; Lead mine operations also increased around this time In 1916 Josefina Orozco became the first Mexican American woman to be elected as Mayor of Benicia when she defeated incumbent John Ahern in a nonpartisan election On July 16th 1910 an earthquake occurred magnitude 6.7 in Mexico City which caused much damage throughout central America The quake left death and injury reports pouring into Los Angeles from all over Mexico City including Benicia where Ricardo Flores Mesa had been attending college In 1914 local physician Dr Manuel Nieto set up a dispensary free of charge to treat patients with typhoid fever following an outbreak of that disease among Mexicans working on ranches near Paso Robles As part of efforts to prevent further epidemics he purchased 1 acre (40,000 m2) lot at 9490 Vallejo Street from goodsenames Inslee & Elmer Ladd for $10 per acre . AfterWorld War II Main Street became known as "The Avenue" because many families moved out of town during the war because they could not find housing or fertile land . By 1955 only 8%of the population lived here full-time while most people worked elsewhere
