In 1976, Bruce Ingram started operating an auto parts store called "Ingram Motors" on Camino del Bosque Road near present day Carver High School which remains open today as Ingram Parts & Equipment Ltd.. In 1984, Hometown Buffet restaurant opened its doors for business with local author Jack London serving as the first chef/owner of this popular spot that has been family owned and operated ever since . On July 1st 2003 Hometown Buffet closed its doors after seventeen years due to financial difficulties but reopened under new ownership less than two weeks later with all new decor and menu items . now open 7 days a week

The community started as a small cattle ranch named "Blythe" on the east side of the Kern River. In 1886, George C. Dixon opened a general store in what is now Blythe and began to sell goods from his ranch to the settlers around him. He also developed an irrigation system that became famous throughout the area. In 1912, Jens Jensen acquired 435 acres (1 km²) of land north of Blythe and decided to develop it into what is now known as Rancho Mirage Park. This development spanned several miles and included residences, schools, golf courses and other amenities for residents and visitors alike. Rancho Mirage Park became one of Southern California's most renowned tourist attractions and remains an important part of its history today
