The first coffee house in town was opened by two Italian immigrants in 1868. Coffee beans were brought overland from Italy and roasted onsite. The second shop to open in Brawley was a bakery which served as a roasting and grinding center for local farmers. The third store, which operated from 1912 to 1966, sold pre-packaged coffee beans and grinders. After that time, it became an espresso bar where customers could purchase their own cups of java. In 2010, the fourth and current store opened at 111 S Main Street which specializes in antique firearms and memorabilia sales along with fresh roasted capsules of premium coffees from all over the world.
Brawley is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 7,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield–Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Brawley" originated from the Bayshore Indian word "bawe," meaning "bay." As early as 1879, Brawley had a post office and two schools. In 1907, the town built its first dam on the Kern River to provide water for their agricultural industry. The town's growth continued through World War II when it became an air-raiding base for Dow Corning and other aircraft manufacturers in southern California. After the war, Brawley experienced significant growth due to its location close to Interstate 5 and its reputation as a vibrant center for agriculture and commerce. Today, Brawley remains one of the most vibrant small towns in Kern County with excellent school system and nightlife options

Brawley, California is a small town located in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Brawley is part of the Monterey Bay Area. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Kern County were Spanish Missionaries who arrived in 1797. The mission was established on Rancho San Miguel de Bodega y Clavijo and named after Saint George of Macedon, who had been martyred there in 1803. In 1836, the Mexican government granted Rancho Bodega to James Fenton for his ranching activities around Bodega Creek. In 1853, during the Mexican- American War (1848-1859), Captain John Cushing's squadron attacked and burned Fort Tejon but were repulsed by local militia led by Santa Ana Mayor José Figueroa. When hostilities ended a year later, Fenton sold his rights to the fort to General Antonio Lopez as part of an agreement which placed Mexico under Ulysses S Grant’s control at that time; Lopez then used it as a military base for operations against Yuma Apaches from 1860-1862 and against Numancia Indians from 1862-1863 In 1865 when General Don Carlos Manuel Huerta took over command of the Mexican Army following President Porfirio Diaz’s ouster, he started receiving arms and ammunition from Ulysses S Grant through intermediaries such as James Fenton. Huerta ordered his troops to march on Bodega Creek to seize arms caches left by Commodore John Dye which they did on 5 October 1865; this event is generally known as "the Battle of Bodega". As a result of this battle most of Huerta’s forces were destroyed or scattered and never able to reoccupy Los Angeles proper until late 1870s when they finally reached their current location south of downtown Lompoc First post office opened in 1935 In 1942 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor resulting in over 100 civilian deaths including many women and children living near Naval Air Station Miramar; due to this event many people relocated away from southern California coastal towns such as Brawley which lost its water supply with no relief available until 1944 when Project Hula began delivering potable water directly into town wells During World War II much production took place at Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company Mine #2 located about 4 miles south east of present day Brawley off State Highway 95 (now US 101) where huge amounts copper ore was mined including some that still exists today including those areas now occupied by Graphene Mines Incorporated After World War II most residents moved back into or close to their original homes while smaller numbers continued working at mining companies or other businesses along SR 95/US101 until 1963 when statehood gave Kern County jurisdiction over all nonagricultural land within its borders
Brawley was founded by John Brawley in 1850. The town later became a county seat, and is now part of Kern County. The post office was established in 1851, and changed its name to Brawley in 1876.
