Airforce gift history in Brea, California begins with the establishment of the United States Air Force Academy in 1912. The current USAF Academy is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The academy was founded as a branch of the Army and Navy schools and was first known as the Military Academy at West Point. In 1947, it became a separate school under the National Defense Act. In 1951, it became an air force institution when Congress passed the Air Force Reorganization Act which merged all branches of the military into one organization. At this time, there were two air forces: The Army and Navy had their own air forces while Air Force had only wings. From 1951-1957, both services operated out of Wright-Patterson AFB southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio. After that period there were 1) a few years where no major changes occurred to either service until 1969 when Headquarters USAF was moved from Dayton to Brea following command changes; 2) Major changes during 1978-1981 whenMajor General James Moseley came on board as Commandant; 3) More significant changes during 1983-1987 when Major General David Aoun came on board as Chief Master Sergeant; 4) Less significant Changes during 1988 through 1992 When Major General Charles Eikenberry took over command (5th Wing). During these five years Brigadier General Herb Weisberg served as Superintendent/Director of Instruction (1991-1992). Today’s USAF Academy provides opportunities for more than 10,000 cadets from all 50 states and 100 foreign nations to attend undergraduate or graduate level education at Heidelberg University near Frankfurt am Main in Germany since 2002. Cadet units have deployments around the world and participate in many combined arms exercises with partner nations including joint operations against insurgents inside Afghanistan and Iraq since 2006 playing an important role in Operation Neptune’s Spear –the largest peacetime aerial bombardment campaign ever conducted by our country! Additionally recent graduates have gone on to serve assignments within our armed forces worldwide such as assignment to duty at RAF Northolt Tower (UK), Yokota AB (Japan), Ramstein AB (Germany), Offutt AFB (Kansas), Hurlburt Field AFB (Florida) — among others! The current USAF Limestone Collection is open to visitors every day except Mondays where admission is free! Visitors are admitted into Building 12 which contains artifacts dating back to World War II including medals awarded for bravery conspicuous conduct or distinguished Flying Crosses etcetera etcetera! This included brevet lieutenant general Rufus King Jr., who served as Commanding General of Tactical Air Command (TACC) until his retirement in 1998; brigadier general Edwin J. “Buzz” Aldrin, who assumed command of TACC after King's retirement; and colonel Glenn Conefeathers III who served as commander of USAFE Pacific Area until his death in 2006. During this time periodBrea AFB saw some significant enhancements including construction of two massive runways: 6/24'x35' (1 km x 100 m) and 3/21'x29', which were later increased to 4/23'x26'. Additionally,Brea AFB saw extensive renovation of buildings and infrastructure including completion of a new Operations Center in 1984 that allowed for more efficient operations under tight space constraints; construction of a new barracks complex housing up to 1,500 soldiers in 1996-1998; addition of powerfulFeatured Aircraft exhibit areas adjacent to three large hangars that could accommodate any type aircraft wanted by visitors; renovations totaling $100 million that added two brand new Blimp Hangar areas complete with state-of-the art lighting systems and weatherization capabilities - these hangars are now used by both BREA Airmen and visiting dignitaries during air shows! The 18th Bomb Wing activated at Brea AB on 15 Apr 1979 operating B-2 Spirit bombers from Holloman AFB NM prior to their deployment overseas with Operation Desert Storm
