In 1928, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf merged with Journeying Coffee Company which had been founded by Arthur Roemer in 1922. This merger made Journeying the largest coffee company in the United States with assets totaling $8 million at its peak. In 1962, Bob Evans purchased Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for $175 million dollars making it one of the biggest food conglomerates in history. Brea, California is a city in Southern California, located on the Pacific Coast. The population was 66,965 as of 2010. It is one of the most populous cities in Orange County and the second most populous city in Los Angeles County after Los Angeles. Brea is part of the San Fernando Valley region. The first Europeans to visit what is now Brea were Spanish soldiers on an exploration party led by Gaspar de Portolá on October 15, 1769. They named it Rancho Santa Ana because of its location near Mission San Gabriel Arcángel and Rancho San Bernardino because there were two other Missions in that area: One at Novato and another at Canoga Park. In 1821, Don José Alvarez acquired rights to a parcel of land between Valencia Street and Westminster Avenue from Juan Bautista Alvarado for $5 per acre (1/4 mile²). This property would later become known as Brea Mesa beyond Valencia Street east to Brea Canyon Road and west to Imperial Highway (now State Route 118). On May 26, 1824, Mexican nationals arrived at Mission Santa Catalina with news that their king had died without issue and that Mexico would finally be able to rule over all Californias. As a result, many Mestizos began arriving in large numbers in these days before anti-Mexican sentiment increased throughout America during this time period culminating into the Mexican–American War (1846-1848). On July 29th 1847 Antonio Gomez married Margarita Concepcion Real whose father founded Concepcion Guadalupe Parish Church just south of town on December 10th 1840 which remains today one of the oldest Catholic churches still operating in Southern California In 1850 Jose Angel Perez bought 5 acres north from Augustin Ramirez for $25 per acre (). The name “Brea” originated with General Antonio Lopez de Indio who called it la Playita due to its attractive landscape including rolling hills and valleys stretching towards Point Muguño on Ventura Lake while continuing down into what is now Woodland Hills northeast to Bell Gardens northwest to North Hollywood east along Lankershim Boulevard then south along Sunset Boulevard reaching downtown Beverly Hills where he built his famous Oasis Hotel originally called The Four Seasons but renamed after himself – President George Hearst’s flagship hotel beginning operations November 15th 1912 until his death January 6th 1941 He also opened numerous small businesses such as A&P grocery store at 860 N Broadway which became well known for having some of the best produce around breasaurians roamed freely through this open space making much noise as they ran about local newspapers reported sightings up until 1915 when hunting banishing dogs stopped bringing any new animals so no more reports were published however additional animal sightings have been reported recently from off grid areas near Thousand Oaks

Brea, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 117,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Gabriel Valley metropolitan area. Brea is located on the eastern edge of San Gabriel Mountains and has a Mediterranean climate. The first Europeans to visit what is now Brea were members of the French Mission Santa Ana de Anza in 1795. A small Catholic mission was founded in 1824 by Father José Francisco Urquiza and Father Fernando Romero. In 1851, brea was incorporated as a town by an act of the state legislature. After annexation by Los Angeles County in 1911, Brea became one of the largest cities within county boundaries without city status or charter amendment until it gained city status again in 1994 with passage of Proposition 204 which granted it full city rights. Brea's roots go back to Rancho Rinconcito grantee Juan Bautista Alvarado who arrived in 1776 from Mexico with his family and cattle overland route up the central coast from Camarillo (later Ventura). His grants included Rancho Rinconcito et al., including parts of today's Brea and City of Industry along with its current Mid-City area east of Interstate 5 near Montrose Boulevard and northwest of Pasadena Avenue. By 1800, rancho properties had grown to 106 acres (39 hectares) south/southeast of present day downtown Brea between Lankershim Boulevard (present day Wilshire Boulevard) on the east side and Glassell Park on-the-west side not far from present day Harbor Drive/Lankershim Boulevard intersection). On January 12, 1850, under Mexican rule all Californios were divided into two groups; those living eastward along El Camino Real were called "Oaxaca" while those westward were called "New Mexicans". The Alvarados held onto their land including Rinconcito grantee Juan Bautista's home holdings where they built a castle using red sandstone quarried just outside their gates on May 14th 1850 known as Rinconcito Castle after their holdings only covered about 7 acres (2 hectares).
