The history of the Air Force Deployed Gift program began in Brentwood, California in 1978. The Air Force’s Deployed Gift Program (DGPP) is a unique and important program that provides gifts to military families stationed in California. DGPP is designed to provide comfort and support to military family members while they are deployed. The first DGPP was conducted in conjunction with the 10th Annual Memorial Day Service at the United States Military Academy at West Point. More than seventy-five gifts were given during the event. The DGPP has grown into an annual tradition that helps connect service members with their families while they are deployed. Today, the DGPP operates out of three locations- Vandenberg AFB, Edwards AFB, and Beale AFB- making it one of the most comprehensive gift programs available to service members stationed in California. Gifts can be sent directly to a military family member or donated through local organizations such as Stroudsburg Area Chamber of Commerce or Santa Clara County Earthquake Relief Committee. In 2013, the Air Force announced that it would discontinue itsDeployed Gift Program effective September 1st, 2014 due to budgetary challenges. However, because donations from within California continue to be accepted through local organizations such as Stroudsburg Area Chamber of Commerce or Santa Clara County Earthquake Relief Committee, theAir Force’s Deployed Gift Program remains an important part of Californianmilitary Families’ lives!

Brentwood is a small city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 59,421 at the 2010 census. Brentwood is part of the South Bay area and it borders Paramount Park to the south and west, Hawthorne Heights to the north, and Watts to the east. The city has a Mediterranean climate with mild summers and cold winters. The history of Brentwood can be traced back to 1868 when John Houghton purchased land in what is now Brentwood from Captain George Hearst for $5 per acre. In 1870, Houghton built his home on what is now Scott Road. By 1876, Houghton had developed Brentwood into a town with a post office, grocery store, blacksmith shop, hotel and other businesses. Around this time also began construction of what would become known as "Hollywood" – then called simply "Los Angeles". In 1907, Hollywood Pictures Corporation was organized under state law as a movie theater company which became one of Hollywood's most powerful forces until its dissolution in 1974. By 1925 there were over 100 movie theaters in Southern California employing over 300 workers including 20 in Brentwood alone! During World War II many residents joined the military or worked on production sites such as El Segundo Naval Air Station in southern Brentwood while others moved into new homes near Beverly Hills or Westport Village in Van Nuys area for fear that they would be affected by wartime rationing. After the war ended many people returned to their pre-war lifestyles but some employed during wartime did not receive payback checks until after They retired from service (thus becoming "veterans", receiving no Social Security benefits). Some key industries that have disappeared or changed significantly since WWII include auto parts manufacturing which once accounted for up to 25% of all jobs within downtown Los Angeles; however today only 2% remain among similar sized companies; meanwhile large warehouses continue to function along Scott Road where various auto parts are manufactured today despite being out of reach for most families who used them during their working years... Today much economic activity takes place around Downtown LA - centered around 3rd Street & Vine Street - largely due w/the development & growth of Koreatown which surrounds downtown LA... In 1969 Brentwood annexed neighbouring Westchester Beach which at its peak had 6500 residents & was home to an NFL team (Los Angeles Rams) before becoming completely suburban by 1970 with both neighborhoods having identical shopping malls (Beverly Hills mall & Westchester Village mall), restaurants (& numerous tie-in stores) & schools (Westchester Beach High School), making it easier for people living either side of Ventura BoulevardNamely students attending Beverly Hills High School between 1970-1985 were almost exclusively white while those attending Westchester Beach High School between 1970-1985 were more diverse racially with majority being African American; Hispanics made up approximately 10% of high schoolers across both communities
