Gourmet Coffee is a long and varied history in Brentwood, California. Gourmet Coffee began as small coffee shops in the early 1900s, serving mostly local residents and tourists. This differentiation continued into the late 1970s when two large coffee companies opened up shop in Brentwood- Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. In the 1990s, Gourmet Coffee began to branch out into other areas of food service such as catering and wine service. The company has since become a well-known brand throughout Southern California, with stores located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Riverside, Orange County, Sacramento; and Anchorage, Alaska. The first gourmet coffee shop was opened by Harry Greif at 8600 North Fairfax Avenue in May of 1912. The store served only coffee beans from nearby roasters and was open for just a few months before being closed due to financial difficulties. For years afterwardsGreif would trade his beans direct with his roasters on an individual basis. It wasn't until 1918 that Gourmet started selling whole bean espresso machines which allowed them to start carrying more variety of beans than ever before. By 1924 they had expanded their business to three locations including one on Fairfax Avenue inside of Macy's department store where they continue to operate today as part of Macy's Chicago operation

In 1969, The Coffee Shop opened its first espresso bar called "The Espresso Botanical". In 1984, The Coffee Shop became a coffee roastery and began serving coffee from around the world. In 1990, The Coffee Shop closed its doors but reopened as a bodega with a new name in 2003. In 2019, the business closed again after many years of operation.

Brentwood, California is a small city located in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 54,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles area and is adjacent to Downtown Los Angeles. Brentwood was first settled in 1887 by Englishmen working on the Rancho Santa Anita ranch. The town name was derived from a grove of palm trees near the original settlement. The city developed gradually over the next few decades as farmers relocated to its wide streets and access to natural resources like sawmills and fish ponds. In 1925, Brentwood became an incorporated municipality with a mayor-council system and adopted a new name - Brentwood Village - shortly after becoming home to its first post office. In 1940, during World War II, Brentwood became one of four cities in Southern California that were bombed by Japanese aircraft. Over 60% of all losses suffered by civilians in Southern California resulted from air raids conducted by Japan during World War II. During the postwar period, Brentwood experienced rapid growth as result of its location within easy commuting distance of downtown Los Angeles and other major metropolitan areas. In 1960, the city annexed much of neighbouring San Fernando Valley which had been organized into two separate municipalities - West Hollywood and Burbank - pursuant to Proposition 13 (the same measure that created Los Angeles County). At that time, Brentwood's population reached 100,000 people; it had grown even more rapidly since then thanks to annexation efforts and suburban development around it along arterial roads such as Interstate 10 and Western Avenue. This rapid growth brought about significant infrastructure challenges including inadequate public transportation options for residents living close to downtownLosAngeles; persistent problems with traffic congestion on main thoroughfares such as Western Avenue; shortages of housing stock due to high demand from developers for land near shopping centres;and environmental concerns related to increased vehicular traffic on congested streets combined with expanding industrial use around schools and other urban centres
Brentwood is a city in Los Angeles County, California. Brentwood was founded on December 24, 1853 by John W. Brent and his wife Eliza C. Borden. The original town site was bounded by the present day Beverly Boulevard, Flower Street, and Manchester Avenue. It was named for an old oak tree in the center of town that had been cut down by Indians in 1836. The first house in Brentwood was built on what is now Vine Street. In 1857, Brentwood became part of Los Angeles County and it incorporated as a city on January 5, 1907.
