Since the early 1900s, Brentwood has been home to a well-known police department. The department's first Constable was hired in 1907 and it has thrived ever since. The department currently employs over 100 officers and is responsible for policing a large area of Brentwood including the neighborhoods of Hawthorne, Westgate, and Northgate. The history of the Brentwood Police Department can be traced back to 1907 when Constable George Hickenlooper was hired to patrol the town. At that time, Brentwood was a small farming town with only a few hundred residents. Today, Brentwood is an affluent community with over 100 households and over 20 businesses located within its boundaries. Brentwood's rich history comes from its many contributions to law enforcement. In 1916, the town voted to establish its own police force which would serve as an equal partner with neighboring Hawthorne Police Department. This decision helped solidify relationships between both departments and grew cooperation between them throughout the years. In 1967, Mayor Harry Sargeant donated his home - which now houses the city's Administration Building - in order for Brentwood police officers to use it as their headquarters during patrols in Hawthorne Heights. Today, the Brentwood Police Department remains one of Southern California's most respected law enforcement organizations and continues to play an important role in keeping our community safe. The original town site included few buildings other than an old mill which still stands today along BrentWood Creek just upstream from where it flows into Mulholland Drive near Warner Bros.' current studios complex including Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox Film Corporation's American Zoetropes studio complex as well as smaller structures scattered throughout fields adjacent to each property line once used for irrigation or livestock production purposes onlyToday these structures are mostly derelict or housing developments catering primarily to actor/director families who continue use them as sets or locations for their films even though they no longer have any agricultural value whatsoever - typical LA life! At its incorporation, Brentwood had a population size exceeding 100,000 for only 2 out of every 10 years since its inception; but over time its size has gradually increased to reach around 146,000 residents today (the latest count).
