The Buena Park Army Depot is an active army installation in Buena Park, California. It was first established in 1915 as the San Bernardino Training Camp and later became known as the Buena Park Armory. The San Bernardino Training Camp was closed in 1942 due to World War II. The armory opened on October 1, 1942, and became known as theBuena Park Armory. It served as a training ground for the United States Armed Forces until it closed in 1994. In 1995, the armory was sold to Pacific Palisades Companies and renamed the Pacific Palisades Army Depot Center. The depot currently serves as a storage facility for military equipment and supplies from all over North America. In 2006, Pacific Palisades Companies merged with Harris Corp., which owns and operates many military installations across North America, including Buena Park Armament Depot Center. As a result of this merger, both Harris Corp.'s Buena Park Armament Depot Center and Pacific Palisades Companies' Buena Park Army Depot Center are now part ofHarris Corporation's Military Infrastructure Group (MIG).

Buena Park is located in Los Angeles County, California. The city was incorporated on November 3, 1912. It became an unincorporated area within the City of Los Angeles on April 24, 1959. As of 2010, it had a population of 189,621. The nameBuena Park comes from two Spanish words meaning "beautiful" and "park." On July 15, 1916, the first post office in Buena Park opened with mail from Pasadena. In 1922 the city dedicated a park that would later become known as Griffith Park. On October 12, 1914 – only one year after its incorporation – Buena Park was directly impacted by World War I when large quantities of munitions were unloaded at pier 11 on Harbor Drive. Nearly all of the buildings in town were destroyed or damaged in the fire that swept through town overnight on October 12-13th. The following day saw widespread condemnation for what was seen as an undignified display of war profiteering by business owners who could have easily prevented such destruction had they chosen not to export goods to Europe during wartime. The destructive fire also left behind a lasting legacy; over 50% of all lumber used in new construction in downtown Buena Park came from downed power lines and other wreckage caused by the fire which still remains today as part of downtown's heritagecore.[1] Despite this tragedy however, many people continued to call for better measures to be taken to prevent future fires which continue to this day despite several decades worthof progress made towards preventing them. In 1919 Mayor Atwell passed a resolution condemning commercial development along Harbor Drive due to fears that more similar tragedies would occur if unchecked and popular demand for property continued unabated . A few years later an ordinance was passed making it illegal for anyone but municipalities with a vote or special exemption from regulation to build any kind of business within 500 feet (150 m) of any public school
