The Buena Park military family has been fighting for independence from Mexico since 1821. The first Buena Park soldier was José Nieto in 1795. The most famous member of the military family is General Francisco Javier de la Portilla y Peña, who led Mexican forces to victory over American troops at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. Today, Buena Park's military community numbers over 100 active members and their descendants include generals and admirals, as well as several dozen officers and enlisted men who have served in every branch of the U.S. armed forces since World War II. In addition to its namesake post office, which opened in 1907, the city has a variety of military-related businesses including stores that sell weapons, ammunition, uniforms and other gear for soldiers and their families; a veterans' center with an outdoor range; a museum about Buena Park's history with artifacts from early days to today; and a library serving both private citizens and government officials interested inBuena Park's military heritage. Buena Park, California is a city located in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 10,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The city was founded on July 1, 1892 by Italian-American settlers as a small town called Saugus Heights. Its name came from Spanish meaning "beautiful place." The town prospered thanks to its location close to the Santa Monica Mountains and its railroad access. In 1916, Buena Park became an incorporated municipality and began to grow rapidly with the arrival of white Americans seeking citrus fruits and other crops in the nearby San Fernando Valley. In 1935, Buena Park annexed parts of neighboring Cities of Industry and Northridge. This gave Buena Park a total population of 25,000 residents which helped make it one of Southern California's most populous cities during this time period. The city's growth continued through World War II when many American military personnel were stationed in Southern California including many who settled in Buena Park after the war ended. In 1945, Buena Park became one of seven municipalities that merged into Los Angeles City proper under Mayor James Rolph's executive order creating what is now known as Angelenos Against Racism (AAR). After years of struggles against racist zoning ordinances and council decisions made without input from locals or outside observers such as AAR members themselves, local activists finally succeeded in achieving racial balance on Los Angeles City Council following passage of non-bindingbrowse Resolution 9292 in 1991 which limited voting rights for Latinos until they reached a certain level of wealth or education/employment status within their community (i e., higher than 80% Anglo). The resolution also mandated that all new Council members must reside within two blocks north or south east thereof upon election day regardless of race or ethnicity however this measure failed to gain popular support among Latinos living southward along 3rd Street corridor where most African Americans lived at that time. Despite these setbacks over the years since 1991 much has changed for Buena Park with Hispanic families increasing residency rates while African American families have slowly begun moving out en masse due to redevelopment projects taking up space they could not afford or lack political clout to oppose

Buena Park is a small town in Orange County, California. It was first settled in 1887 and was incorporated on December 14, 1912. The name of the town comes from Spanish Buena Vista meaning "beautiful view." The original town site was located at what is now Canoga Park Boulevard and Ontario Street. A school and post office were built there in 1887, but it soon became apparent that the land would not support a large population. So, in 1912, the town of Buena Park was founded on acreage purchased from the Santa Ana Valley Railroad Company. The new town quickly grew into a busy center for shopping and entertainment. In 1922, Buena Park library opened its doors to the public. That same year saw the birth of many famous local people: Harry Houdini; Orson Welles; Bob Hope; Chico Marx; Marilyn Monroe; and Jack Benny. In 1949, Buena Park annexed part of neighboring Playa del Rey into its municipality limits. This annexation helped to keep pace with changing social norms in California during this time period- most notably through increasing numbers of Latino residents moving into Buena Park from other parts of Orange County. In 1984, however, due to budget cuts by then-Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Buena Park withdrew from cityhood status and reverted back to its pre-city form as an unincorporated community within Orange County

In 1948, Mayor José Gomez made the decision to integrate Buena Park's public schools into LAUSD, which led to increased population density and lower taxes for residents. In the 1950s, Buena Park began hosting annual international film festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival. In 1960, Mayor Manuel Gomez made the decision to transition from Republican Party rule to Democratic Party control; this led to increased development around downtown while reducing funding for public services such as education and parks. During this time period, crime rates in Buena Park increased due to gangs being able to usethe city as a source of income. In 1986, Mayor Pedro Ramos decided thatBuena Park should become an "international destination" instead of just a " Mexican City." This decision led to greater development around downtown while decreasing funding for public services such as education and parks; however, Crime rates did not increase during this time period
