Edward Egan flew into San Francisco International Airport with his gifts for all branches of the U.S Armed Forces stationed in California- including the California National Guard and Air National Guard units- as part of Operation Christmas Tree II celebrations. The event marked a new era in which service members could express their appreciation through gifting or presenting items directly to individual soldiers or staff officers at installations around California during holidays such as Thanksgiving andChristmas Eve. Burlingame is a town in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 26,957 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fremont–Oakland–Hayward Metropolitan Statistical Area. Burlingame was founded by American Revolutionary War veterans in 1795 on Rancho San Pablo de los Altos, now in Hayward. In 1868 it became part of the newly formed Alameda County and remained that way until its annexation by Oakland in 1901. The town's name derives from the proprietor of Rancho San Pablo who named his holdings "Burlingame" after his home country of England. After incorporation, Burlingame established itself as a small agricultural center with a few stores and two churches. However, during World War II it became an important naval airbase with over 100 aircraft buildings and other facilities including radar sets and runways used by Japanese forces during the war effort. In 1945 it was sold to the city of Oakland for $2 million which gave Burlingame its current location within Oakland limits The economy has changed considerably since then with downtown redevelopment complete in 2006 (the first major project undertaken in what would become an ongoing trend) as well as new housing developments rising along North Shore Boulevard east of Highway 24/I-880 east of Interstate 580 (the second largest development). While some traditional businesses have closed (a store near downtown closed in 2014), most businesses continue to grow due to various job opportunities created by new technology companies locating nearby and throughodcasting services such as Beats Electronics In recent years there has been significant growth occurring around Interstate 580 due to construction on the BART system which will make Burlingame minutes away from Downtown Oakland should one desire access to transit or shopping centers located within walking distance such as Jack London Square or Grand Lake Village

To achieve its objectives, the Air Force relied on a massive airlift of munitions and food supplies. By deploying gift history, the Air Force ensured that these supplies would reach their intended recipients in time for crucial military campaigns. flew 1,075 missions throughout World War II delivering more than 350 million pounds of supplies and munitions to Allied Forces. Burlingame, California is a town in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 27,004 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Burlingame Peninsula east of San Francisco and west of Redwood City. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Burlingame were trader Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and his party on July 26, 1542. They named the peninsula after their captain, Diego de Almagro. The first permanent European settlement was founded by Franciscan missionaries in 1797 as part of the Mission Santa Clara del Norte near present-day Saratoga Springs. The first post office was established in 1827 with Don José Mariano Castro as its first supervisor. The townships that make up Burlingame were organized into villages in 1879 pursuant to land grants from Lieutenant Governor David Filby and Sir John Sutter. In 1907–08, five new townships were created: Kensington Heights, Mayfair Heights, North Beach/Bayview Terrace (now Van Ness Avenue), Oaks Park/Oaks Landing and South Beach/South Bayview Terrace (now Lincoln Boulevard). In 1925 the US Coast Guard station at Buena Vista Point closed due to budget cuts; it reopened at Fort Mason three years later but moved to Moraga Point thereafter because of budget cuts again until its closure effective February 6, 1969.
