The California Coast Guard has been providing law enforcement and public safety services on the state's coasts since 1849. In 1916, the Coast Guard station in Calabasas was established as part of a larger system that included stations in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Diego. The original mission of the Coast Guard in Calabasas was to protect navigation along the Santa Barbara Channel and adjacent waters. In World War II, the Coast Guard played an important role in helping to prevent merchant shipping from being bombed by Japanese forces during the Battle of Midway. After the war, coastal security responsibilities continued to grow as people began moving into areas near shorelines. In 1967, CALGAR (the California Coastal Resources Agency) was created as a result of Proposition 13 and its mandate to manage coastal resources for both human health and economic development. Since then, CALGAR has worked with local communities to create plans for protecting our coastline and maritime heritage. Today, CALGAR plays an active role in managing our coast guard assets including boat patrol operations; providing support for search-and-rescue missions; regulating fishing; providing education about marine conservation; enforcing state laws related to shark feeding season; responder communications services; and administering grants program like Coastal Waterways Restoration Program (CWRP). In addition to its traditional law enforcement functions, CALGAR also plays an important role in promoting ocean conservation through its work with dive shops and other organizations who help preserve our oceans’ ecosystems. Additionally, CALGAR participates in various environmental programs such as Watershed Stewardship Planning Committee (WSP), Marine Mammal Research Station (MMR), Physical Oceanography Laboratory (POL), School Climate Assessment Program - Monterey County Branch (SCAP), Human Dimensions Group - Monterey Peninsula Branch(HAGM) which is responsible for developing community engagement strategies for both environmental protection activities onshore/offshore agriculture/forestry management issues identified by WSPA/CALPROBE investigators working at multiple sites along Humboldt Bayou watershed corridor

Calabasas is a small city located in Stanislaus County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 18,321. Calabasas has been inhabited by humans since at least 10,000 BC. The area now known as Calabasas was first populated by the Tongva people and then the Kumeyaay people before becoming part of Rancho San Marcos. In 1821 Mexican soldiers Bowie and Kearny discovered oil wells in what is now Palmdale and began exploration for petroleum resources. In 1847 Chico state land was claimed by California under Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following Mexico's victory over America in the Mexican-American War. The treaty specified that all lands north of a line running due east from Palmdale to Mount Shasta were to be given to California; this included much of present-day Calabasa. However, because no water could be found on either side of the border, Mission San Gabriel Obispo became an ongoing dry rancho with its own independent government until it merged into Rancho Santa Clara in 1851 when water supplies arrived from southern California. In 1850s many families moved to california from central america during gold rush era They brought their skills with them such as farming and logging which led to industries like shipbuilding and wagon manufacturing which continue today
The Calabasas area was first populated in the late 1800s. The land that is now Calabasas was part of Rancho San Antonio, which was granted to José Maria Alvarado in 1821. The name "Calabasas" comes from the Italian word for "apple trees." In 1881, a group of Americans arrived at Rancho Los Olivos and began to cultivate apples there. This led to the development of a commercial apple orchard around this time. In 1916, Pasadena City Council voted to annex what is now Calabasas into Pasadena. At this time, the population of Pasadena was only 3,500 people. However, by 1920, it had grown to over 20,000 people and annexed what is now Calabasa as well. By 1928, all of Southern California had been annexed into the city of Pasadena and Calabasa became part of that city.
