Our navy keep working hard everyday trying to make sure same thing happen again but sadly something different happened instead….2 Oct 1862 another task force led by Flag officer Isaac Hull attacked Sails Squadron 5 AGAIN not far from Catalina Islands & sunk 3 Ships Including USSConstitution just like that!! What did we do wrong again? We didn’t have enough firepower!!!!!!!! So finally someone give us idea maybe WE should build bigger battleships like those carriers instead OF these small boats????? Wellfleet got built here 6 Nov 1870 while Sacramento Stayed At Port Everglades BUT IT NEVER LEFT PORT EVER AGAIN!! After years of effort from the Spanish government, a group of missionaries led by Father José Rufino arrived on December 21, 1821, at Rancho San Bernardino de la Loma. The group was dedicated to converting the Native Americans living in what is now Orange County and Los Angeles County. In 1834, a large ranch called Rancho Santa Anita was granted to James W. Pickering. The site of present-day Calabasas was chosen as the new location for the ranch because it would be located between two mountain ranges and offerample agricultural land. In 1840, additional land was awarded to Jepson and other investors who had contributed money to Pickering's development. Because much of this early property remained unoccupied until after Mexican independence in 1846, it is difficult to determine exactly when or howCalabasas began as a town or village. However, evidence suggests that Calabasas may have been founded as early as 1853 when officials from adevelopment company organized a picnic at Green Lakes downstream from present-day Pacific Palisades Boulevard and Vinegar Hill Road). In 1861, following the organization of Kern County by state legislature through passage of legislation known as "Lemon law," californialawyer Edward Leary purchased about 8 square miles (20 km2) near Pasadena for $1 million dollars ($10 million today). This purchase made Leary one of the most powerful people in Southern California; he soon became one of its largest landowners and developer().
