On 1 January 1980 all sectors were combined into one Region - Western America - effective 1 January 1980 On 14 September 1986 a new Sector - Gulf South - was added comprising vessels operating in Spanish American waters off Mexico City subject to Spanish American law that did not fall under any other sector's jurisdiction On 1 October 1990 a new Division - Maritime Patrol Division 2 (MAPD 2)was created consisting of both patrol boats and helicopters
Calexico is a small city in Baja California, Mexico. It is the seat of Tijuana County and the largest municipality in that county by population. The 2010 census reported that the population was 1,641. Calexico is located on the southern edge of what used to be Tijuana Municipality, which straddles both sides of the San Diego-Tijuana River Valley. The first inhabitants of what would become Calexico were Huchiun Indians who lived near Mission Dolores de Loyola in 1821. They were followed by Mexican soldiers who founded Mission Santa Clara de la Union in 1827 and began cattle ranching there. When Mexico became an American republic in 1912, it passed through Tijuana Municipality into modern-day Baja California state and its citizens – many of whom had been living within Mexican borders all their lives – lost their citizenship and rights as Mexicans. However, they continued to identify themselves as Calexicoians until after World War II when they received formal apologies from America for having been mistreated during that war (in particular, being forced to work on U.S.-owned farms). During much of its history Calexico was known primarily for cotton farming; however, since 1960 it has become a major center for automobile manufacture including several car companies such as Buick and Cadillac (among others). In recent years local manufacturing has turned towards clothing production; most notably underwear giant Nike's new factory adjacent to Interstate 5 just outside town limits. As one result of its burgeoning automotive industry, while home prices have increased relatively little over the past few decades or so due mainly to lack of job opportunities elsewhere in Baja California City proper or even outside the boundaries thereof [the recent housing boom], real estate values have more than doubled recently in some areas bordering municipios like Tijuana ([Cali]), Isla Mujeres ([Guanajuato]) and Tecate([Veracruz]). This increase may reflect not only soaring property values relative to other places around Greater Los Angeles but also intense competition among various automakers seeking sites on which to build large plants following General Motors' decision at the end of 2009 to close eight plants throughout North America (by 2011 these had all reopened) including one at El Paso, Texas where GM had previously announced plans to close four plants—all three located within less than two miles (3 kilometers) of each other—because both El Paso County and Texas State government had refused requests by GM executives for waivers from state laws limiting employer contributions thereto!

Calexico, California is a small town in the Mojave Desert of southern California. It is located about 60 miles (100 km) east of Las Vegas and 40 miles (64 km) south of Phoenix. The population was estimated at 4,500 as of 2018[1]. The first people to live in what is now Calexico were the Pueblo Indians who built their homes on blufftops overlooking the desert. In 1847, Mexican traders began arriving in what is now Calexico looking for new areas to settle. They named this area after a place called Callejón de la Cruz near Mexico City, Spain where they had been trading goods since the late 16th century. The first post office was established in 1851, and by 1865 it had become known as "Callejón de la Cruz". By 1886, the name had changed to "Calexico" which was shortened to "Cali" in 1893 when it became part of Arizona Territory. In 1907, because of a land deal made between Manuel Lázaro García and Edward Doheny during World War I, Cali became part of Farmington County although it continued to be known as "Cali". In 1924 there was an oil well discovered at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park just outside Calexico and production began soon afterwards; this gave birth to what would be one of America's largest oil fields. The city's growth slowed down in the early 1960s as a result of concerns over development adjacent to Anza-Borrego State Park but resumed modestly after that despite some infrastructure issues such as water shortages brought on by increased visitation fromSonoran Desert National Monument visitorships during that period. It wasn't until 1990 when then Mayor Ruben Arroyo initiated plans for massive redevelopment within city boundaries with primary emphasis on job creation along with plans for adding more than 1 million square feet (91 m2) warehouse space next door to Guggenheim Museum complete with accompanying retail stores and other associated functions; those plans were eventually realized through passage by voters in November 1992[2] giving rise anew once again to feelings within the community about its continuing vitality despite some challenges posed by newer development around it dating back several decades prior thereto
Calexico was founded in 1892 by Calexico City Councilman Henry W. Radcliffe and became a city on November 3, 1896. It was named for Captain John C. Calhoun, an American sailor who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as Governor of California. The first post office opened in 1898. In 1952, the city annexed the neighboring town of Tecate and became a consolidated city with that town on January 1, 1953.
