Army gift history in California City, California began with the creation of the United States Army in 1846. The first U.S. military post was established at Fort Yuma in Arizona Territory, and soon after, soldiers were coming to California City to garrison our new outpost. In 1849, General Stephen Kearny’s army invaded Sinaloa County and burned down the village of Querétaro on November 16th while under the command of Colonel John Bancroft. This event is remembered as one of the most shameful episodes in American military history and has been used by many people as an example of how not to behave during wartime. The next year, President Polk sent a squadron of Marines under Commodore James Fenton westward along the Pacific coast for engagements against Mexican pirates and public enemies such as Joaquin Murrieta. Commodore Fenton’s ships were met with hostility from local Native Americans who fear that white men would take their land and resources without giving them a chance to return home. As a result, Commodore Fenton had to fight his way through hostile territory using guerrilla tactics until he reached Mexico City where he reported his successes to Polk. On July 4th, 1850, General Kearny arrived at San Francisco Bay with 1,500 soldiers camped outside town on what is now known as Battery Park Drive. At this time there was no real grown up city government or infrastructure within California City other than the few miles of dirt road that connected it to the mission built around 1780 called Mission Dolores (now part of San Francisco). Kearny immediately ordered all residents inside their homes until further notice and then issued a proclamation summoning all men between 21 years old and 45 years old who could bear arms “to assemble at this place within three weeks from date herein mentioned for drill purposes only” In preparation for this big event, Kearny also ordered all stores closed so that everyone could get their supplies necessary for war(): tents, ammunition, clothing etc.. A large crowd had already assembled by September 8th when Kearny finally made an appearance outside town limits carrying two cannons over his shoulder like some kind of conquering hero ready for battle! He addressed these troops before mounting his horse and leading them into battle against 120 Mexican irregulars armed only with bows and arrows! The clash lasted three hours before both sides retreated back into their encampments exhausted but victorious! For Kearney’s efforts during this engagement – which helped solidify Californian independence from Mexico – he was given a promotions totaling 20 percent while Mexicans received nothing more than death or deportation! This victory emboldened Kearny even more as he decided to launch another attack on Mexican positions several days later near present-day Monterey Peninsula! Unfortunately for Californians however – due primarily to bad weather conditions – this attempt fared much worse than its predecessor...and ended up achieving nothing more than Yankee losses including one dead soldier!!! This incident demonstrated once again just how important it was for Californians themselves - notforeigners-to lead our country during times of strife; something that still remains highly relevant today!

The first settlements within what are now Riverside and San Bernardino Counties were made along the banks of the Palm Springs River where cottonwood trees were harvested for fuel and goods such as candles and soapstone carvings were produced from agates used for ceremonial purposes. By 1860 there were over 100 buildings within two miles (3 km) radius of Palmdale Creek where water power was available for irrigation agriculture began to take hold as well as mining operations for coal and silver ore . One important aspect that contributed to early growth in this area was transportation; roads were developed connecting communities throughout southern California which facilitated trade between farmers both upstream and downstream from California City
