The Camarillo Coast Guard Station has been in operation since 1899. The coast guard was formed to protect the County of Ventura from inland piracy and smuggling. In 1919, the station was relocated to its current location on the Camarillo coast. The Coast Guard Station is one of four stations within the Ventura County Sheriff's Department that provides law enforcement services for the community. Since 1949, when a radio tower was erected at present day Point Conception, Camarillo, it has been common for Coast Guardsmen from all along Southern California to participate in annual Christmas carolsing events at Point Conception State Beach. In 1969, a new station building was constructed on Point Conception which served as headquarters for the Coast Guard District until 1984 when that district was divided into two divisions - Monterey Bay Division and San Diego Division. From 1985 through1999 both divisions were headquartered at Point Conception but then Monterey Bay Headquarters moved back to Imperial Beach in 2000. On December 1st, 2002 a new era began with the inauguration of Governor Gray Davis as America’s 41st President; he became first male governor of California with jurisdiction over both coasts. As part of his inauguration festivities Davis visited Point Conception and delivered an address denouncing drug trafficking off California’s coast stating “we will not be intimidated by cartels or smugglers who have built their empires here using our tax dollars and endangered our environment” (Davis). On December 5th Davis also dedicated a new pierhead lighthouse at Santa Barbara Island in order to better serve maritime traffic through increased security patrols and protection from pirate activity (Lighthouse).

The Camarillo Valley is a small, agricultural region located in the Central Valley of California. The valley was first inhabited by the Ohlone people who lived there for many centuries. In 1851, the U.S. Government designated the area as part of Rancho San Luis Rey de Cámara, which later became part of rancho Santa Fe. The area was annexed to Los Angeles County in 1911 and to Ventura County in 1923. The name "Camarillo" comes from Mission San Gabriel Arcangelus (1819-1824), erected on a grant from Felipe de Neve y Soto, then governor of Alta California. The earliest Europeans to visit what is now the Camarillo Valley were Spanish missionaries who founded missions at Missions Concepción (1795), Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción (1800), and Nuestra Señora del Carmen (1801). From 1810 until 1821, Mexico established two presidios in this area: Presidio Veracruz on the eastern edge of present-day Ventura County and Presidio Baja California on the western edge of Los Angeles County. When Mexico became an American client state after independence, Americans claimed all Mexican land within 1,500 miles of theirLOS ANGELES COUNTY - Western Section In 1853, federalists representing Californians who wanted to secede from America formed an anti-slavery party known as the Liberty Party and won control of both houses of Congress during elections that year. President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed James Kellar as Director Generalof Immigration and Naturalization in order to promote white settlement in what had become known as “the Southwest” – including parts now belonging to Southern California – but he failed to achieve any significant progress toward true racial integration until his administration’s signing into law on November 16, 1942, Executive Order 9066 which banned all Japanese Americans living in America forever! On January 15th 1946 local activist Betty Friedan published her influential book “My Sister’s Keeper” which called attention to patterns of institutionalized racism throughout American society that ledto segregated schools; housing discrimination against Asian families; employment discrimination against women; health disparities between races; intimate partner violence; criminal justice system disparities between races etc., among other issues! With subsequent changes under successive administrations including Grover Cleveland’s presidency (1889-1901)and Woodrow Wilson’s presidency (1914-1932), race continuesto play a significant rolewithin American life through policies suchas Reconstruction Acts passed during those years that provided civil rights for African Americans while maintaining white supremacy over other groups suchas Native Americans/Alaskan Natives etc., even up unto the present day! However with recent political correctness measures being put into place following presidential orders like #MeToo etc., much has changed within our community since those earlier times
