The Camarillo National Guardsmen have been a part of the American community for over 240 years. The unit was organized on December 12, 1847 as California's first infantry regiment and served in the Mexican-American War (1846-48). In 1861, the Camarillo NAG was called to duty in support of the United States during the Civil War. After the war, Camarillo NAGs served in various roles until being disbanded on October 1, 1951. Today, CAMARILLO'S NATIONAL GUARD is one of America's oldest and most veteran units. The unit has a rich history that goes back more than 240 years. The militia has played an important role in both local and national events, providing security for area residents and visitors alike. Some of CAMARILLO'S most famous members include Ulysses S. Grant ('Ulysses S.'), General Philip Sheridan ('Sheridan'), and Barbara Woodstock Simpson ('Barbara'). TheCamarillos are proud to have served our country faithfully since 1847. Our militiamen play an important role in keeping our community safe and secure - from law enforcement to public service projects, they provide valuable services every day!
There is no doubt that the National Guard is an important part of the country’s security. They are able to quickly and effectively respond to any emergency situation. One of the things that makes the National Guard so special is their gift culture. This unique tradition dates back to at least 1811, when Congress created a national guard corps in order to provide “a body of volunteer men who can be called out whenever it may be necessary for putting into effect such measures as might seem proper and just, on account of their attachment thereto, or because they were instinct with patriotic feeling and deeply impressed by the interests of their country.” Today, there are over 350,000 National Guardsmen serving in all 50 states. The City of Camarillo, California is located in the Mojave Desert. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 66,362. The city was founded in 1887 by James Irvine and named for him. It is located on a peninsula in the central Mojave Desert and is bordered by Owens Valley to the south, Yucca Valley to the east, and beyond that by parts of Nevada. The name "Camarillo" comes from Spanish meaning "place where camels are milked." The city was first settled during what is now known as the California Gold Rush period (1848-1858). Many people new to this area were prospectors who were looking for gold nuggets or other minerals they could sell back home. Some local businesses that came into being during this time include an opera house and theater (the precursor to today's Regal Cinemas), a brewery, a post office, and several churches. In 1907 Camarillo became an incorporated town with a population of 10 residents. In 1916 it became an unincorporated community with a population of 5 residents before becoming an incorporated city in 1949 with its current 66,362 inhabitants. The original downtown business district still exists today as CAMARILLO CENTER which includes several large shopping malls as well as several small businesses within walking distance including some dating back to when Camarillo was just another small town in the Mojave Desert! During World War II many adjustments were made to how Camarillo functioned due to its strategic location between two major military bases - Clark Air Force Base and El Centro Air National Guard Base - both of which provided excellent access to foodstuffs and other essential supplies needed for war effort. For example, after Pearl Harbor Japanese forces invaded America on December 7th 1941 locals set up roadblocks around their neighborhoods so that goods not necessary for war would not get into enemy hands! This type ofOperation called "Blockade Beach" continued until late 1945 while American troops advanced towards Tokyo! Afterward much growth took place within Camarillo due largely to professional immigrants who began arriving here during economic prosperity following World War II; these newcomers shaped Camarillo into one of Southern California's most vibrant cities mayoral administrations have often touted as one of its strengths – always working hard amidst high technology industry changes – has helped keepCamarillo top dog economically throughout its history

In recent decades, however, the Guards have become more popular among Americans for their ceremonial duties and for their support of patriotic causes.
Camarillo, California (formerly part of San Diego) is a city in southern California. The population was 139,827 at the 2010 census, making it the 14th-most populous city in California. It is located on the eastern coast of San Diego County and has a maritime history as well as being home to U.S. Naval Air Station Miramar and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The first Europeans to visit what is now Camarillo were members of Manuel Nieto's party who sailed up the Pacific coast from Monterey Peninsula on July 4, 1775 on their way to found Mission San Luis Obispo de Anza. A fort was built on what is now Pioneer Boulevard in 1805 by Juan Bautista Alvarado, who named it Presidio Real de la Bahia de los Nubes because he believed that an island in this bay would provide him with protection from English ships attacking his colony inland. The mission was destroyed by fire in 1836 but re-established two years later as Mission Santa Fe de las Californias under Father Fernando Rivera y Navarro after Mexican independence from Spain had been declared. In 1853 Calafia Rancho Niguel was purchased by American entrepreneur James Wirt and became one of the most important agricultural areas in central California due to its large holdings of sugar cane, cotton and other crops; however much settlement took place between 1850 and 1860 without result until business interests within America induced Governor Parnell Toole to establish a land grant system for coastal counties which led to further settlement patterns along present day Camarillo Boulevard (later State Route 101). The town began receiving mail from outside of Southern California on December 10, 1870 when local postmaster Hiram Powers opened the first post office in what is today Camarillo. When Wirt died suddenly during an inspection trip to Sacramento City Limits late in 1872 his widow conveyed all his remaining property southward through Carlsbad boundaries into Kern County where she lived out her days until her death six years later at age 88; thus beginning county government within Kern County rather than between Los Angeles County and Kern County as had been customary since before statehood (1846). After Mrs Wirt's death there ensued a period lasting several decades during which no new development occurred within Carlsbad boundaries while family members continued to reside therein participating actively both politically and financially in various aspects of county life including service on various county boards (including those concerned with water resources) until 1942 when school facilities were established east of I-5 near Universal Studios Hollywood thereby providing some sort of social center for residents west of Interstate 5 whose only formative contact with people living east sideofI-5 came through movie theater showings or periodic cross contamination events emanating from adjacent residential subdivisions hosting large numbers of automobiles leading eventuallytoSoil erosion beneath surface infrastructure occasioning major flooding problems throughout portions thereof during 1984/85.) On October 15, 1886 Henry Ford received US Patent No 7237503 for an improved gasoline engine design which became known as the Ford Tractor tractor engine; this invention helped spur heavy industry development within CAMARILLO such as Ford Motor Co., General Motors Company and other major automakers subsequent thereto making it one of Americas "Motor Cities". The name of the town was first given to it by Captain Pedro Fortunato Camarillo in 1839. A post office was established at the town in 1842, and the name was changed to Camarillo in 1854. The first mill built in the town was erected in 1865. In 1907, a water works and pipeline were constructed within the community, which led to an increase in population and businesses. The Camarillo-Salinas County Water District was formed in 1959, and continues to provide drinking water for the community.
