It can be flown in real life or simulated combat scenarios using Flight Simulator 9 software! There are also numerous WWII era artillery pieces on display throughout the AFBgt Museum complex. These include cannons dating back to 1898 that were used by various units in Carlsbad during World War II; mortars dating back to 1871 that were used by San Diego troops during Desert Storm; cannons belonging to Fort Sill (Oklahoma) National Guard unit that fought in Vietnam;and even an old howitzer!

Carlsbad is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 3,815 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Pacific Ocean and has a large expanse of beachfront property that includes more than 20 miles (32 km) of shoreline. The town was founded in 1884 by Danish immigrants Ole Peder Olsen and his wife Marie Odense as part of a larger land grant to Peter Kjærsgaard from Carlsbad Rancho del Norte. The name "Carlsbad" originated from the Danish word for "carrots", tørre or tilleggende meaning "additional". The first post office opened in 1885. In 1907, Carlsbad incorporated as an independent city with its own government and fire department. In 1912 it annexed neighboring Del Mar Village. The discovery of oil in 1938 led to dramatic growth in Carlsbad and other nearby towns during World War II; this prompted the construction of Navy airfields nearby including Naval Air Station El Toro and Naval Air Station Miramar which became points of refueling for Japanese bombers during the war. Work on developing Miramar began as early as 1935 but only began full-scale development after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 threw open new markets for US aircraft manufacturing worldwide. The airport became one of the largest military facilities in North America when it opened in 1942; it served both American forces fighting World War II and Japanese forces engaged in the Battle of Leyte Gulf following their landing on November 8, 1944. After years of struggle over zoning changes and planning approvals, Carlsbad became fully bicycle-friendly with plans to have two bike lanes running through town center by 2020. Today there are more than 100 restaurants and cafes within walking distance of downtown Carlsbad while parks near campus offer plenty of exercise opportunities for students or professionals working outside the home
