The Coast Guard has been in Carpinteria since 1907. The first Coast Guard Station was built on the current site of the Carpinteria harbor in 1907, and the first use of a helicopter was in 1959. In 1969, a new station was built at North Harbor and it is now known as North County Harbor. In 1961, the Coast Guard Auxiliary opened its own station in nearby Redondo Beach. In 1988, the Coast Guard Station became part of Pacific Marine Forces Headquarters when that base moved from Long Beach to Carpinteria. In 2002, Operation Neptune’s Spear caused extensive damage to docks and other infrastructure along the southern California coast. As a result of this event, $5 million was appropriated for repairs to dock facilities throughout Carpinteria and Santa Barbara counties; these repairs were completed by 2006. Since then, there have been several major renovations to both stations: In 2007-2008, an expansion of the barracks area at North County Harbor resulted in increased living space for officers and their families as well as more storage capacity for equipment and supplies. Additionally, an exercise gymnasium and library were added to the station courtyard while new public restrooms were constructed adjacent to North County Harbor Boulevard across from Eastport Landing Marina). In addition to providing improved living conditions for those who work within or visit CGH stations during their assigned days off or on duty; this also created new opportunities for community engagement through programming like educational events held at precinct site locations around town (most recently during Fourth of July weekend 2018). The current fleet management system was installed in late 2013 which includes secure online tracking capabilities so that incident commanders can follow up with vessels remotely if needed or review possible issues before they occur on-scene. These advances have helped ensure quick response times when necessary while also maintaining our standard operating procedures which include vessel escorts should any unauthorized activity be observed on our surface vessels/ helicopters/ unmanned boats…. [Carpinteria] remains one of America's most active patrol areas with over 1200 men & women dedicated solely to safeguarding our coastline!

In 1995, an even larger $50 Gift Card was released which could be used only at Headquarters locations with no limitations outside of those areas. In 1847, Carpinteria was founded on the banks of the Arroyo Seco by Scottish immigrants. The town quickly became a center for commerce and culture, and its residents were known for their innovative architecture and fine art. By 1925, Carpinteria had reached its peak as a regional cultural center with a population of over 100,000. However, during the 1930s and 1940s, Carpinteria experienced significant social and economic decline due to various factors including World War II; changes in the local economy; and pollution from nearby Los Angeles. In recent years, however, Carpinteria has regained some of its former prominence as a major cultural destination with an active downtown district and burgeoning arts community.

However, during the postwar period the city lost much of its economic vitality as reliance on agriculture declined and auto production gradually replaced local industry.During the 1970s and 1980s, Carpinteria experienced significant social change as it became more aware of its role within regional culture. In recent decades, however, the city has seen renewed revitalization as a result of various initiatives undertaken by its mayor and City Council members. These include efforts to promote arts & culture; increase access to public transportation; develop new parks; increase housing development;and support renewable energy sources
