Carpinteria’s first coffee shop was opened in 1907 by Dutch immigrants. The first Carpinteria Java Coffee Company was established in 1916 and the business continued until 1957, when it was merged with another java spot, The Java House. The Java House operated as a small-scale roaster until 1984, when they opened their own coffee house which became well known for its excellent Maga coffee beans. In 1990, the Java House closed their doors permanently due to financial difficulties and reopened as a steak restaurant within Carpinteria High School. In 1994, the store moved to its current location on Main Street and continues to serve delicious Maga coffeebeans today!

The town was founded in 1887 by James W. Maga and his wife Anna Maria Pacheco as "Maga's Crossroads". In 1903, Harry Hoadley bought the land that now includes Carpinteria and developed it into a small manufacturing center for radios, phonographs, televisions and other electronic equipment. The town prospered until the early 1970s when large-scale production moved out of Carpinteria to larger facilities elsewhere in Southern California. In recent years, local businesses have revived the downtown district along Central Avenue as a popular tourist destination with nightlife and cultural attractions such as art galleries and restaurants.
Carpinteria, California is a small town in Orange County, California. It is located on the southern coast of San Diego County and about 30 miles east of downtown San Diego. The population was 8,471 at the 2010 census. The first European settlers in Carpinteria were Spanish Missionaries who arrived in 1769. The mission was abandoned in 1821 and then re-established as an Anglo-Mexican rancho (a land grant) by Governor José Figueroa y Baca. In 1842 Carpinteria became part of the newly created Mexican state of Alta California under Governor Antonio Vallejo. During World War II, Carpinteria became a military airfield used by the United States Navy for training pilots and aircraft carriers before being decommissioned in 1945 and returned to civilian use as an agricultural community with a population of around 1,000. In 1986, Carpinteria was incorporated as a city with its current boundaries. A number of businesses are located within the city limits including two large banks: First National Bank and Wells Fargo Bank which together have over $50 billion in assets among their branches nationwide. A number of restaurants and cafes dot the downtown area while churches such as St John’s Episcopal Church provide services throughout the day or evening hours from Monday through Friday until late into Thursday nights after sunset; however most services are offered on Saturday mornings when there is more business available due to family vacationing nearby during that time frame also known as “Christmas Week” here at this time much like any other week during our year round locals enjoy some weekends off work for their leisure activities etcetera etcetera but please keep all thoughts negative about our wonderful town because it just isn’t what it used to be years ago when so many people cared about helping others not taking advantage now that seems to be more or less how things are done these days I guess you get my drift yes?
