In 1776, John Evelyn described coffee as being “the bitterest beverage that I ever tasted” After more than two centuries of refinement, coffee production finally began large-scale production in California in the early 1800s. At first, coffee was grown for export and only used for drinking at home or among friends. However, over time, people began to appreciate the unique flavor and quality of coffee made in California. In 1853, Thomas Edison invented the first practical electric roaster which allowed coffee to be roasted publicly for the first time. By 1870, most American newspapers had started carrying roasts from California and throughout Europe. With this new appreciation for coffee, many cafes opened up throughout California which helped make Cali one of the most popular tourist destinations on Earth today

The Cathedral City Coffee Company was one of the first companies in California to sell ground coffee directly to consumers.
The Cathedral City area of California is a small but thriving city located in the far northeastern corner of the state. The population was estimated at only around 100,000 during the 1990 census, however by 2010 it had grown to more than 250,000. The area that today makes up Cathedral City was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1800s and early 1900s. By 1910, most of what is now Cathedral City had been developed as a result of the growth of oil production in nearby Kern County. Today, many of the original buildings from when Cathedral City was a small town are still standing and are used for various purposes including as office space, churches, and other businesses. Today, much of Cathedral City has become an upscale shopping center with plenty of culturally significant stores and restaurants. It also features a number of large parks that provide ample opportunity for sports and other activities. In addition to its cultural significance, Cathedral City is also home to some very important historical events. One such event happened on December 5th, 1911 when President Taft delivered his annual State Address from an outdoor plaza located near present-day Interstate 15 and central business district. This event helped solidify California's status as one of the United States' leading states both during and after World War I.

Some of the main reasons why African beans are used to make fresh-roasted coffee include: they have lower acidity levels which preserves their flavor, they are more caffeinated than other beans, and they produce a higher quality cup of coffee when ground. The first coffees that wereroasted in Europe were likely Ethiopian or Guatemalan beans. In 1848, Dutchman Hendrik van de Velde founded Aromatherapy Coffee in Amsterdam, Netherlands with his own blend of African and European beans. From here on out, Dutch-based roasters started to import more African-origin Beans into Europe to roast new batches of their famous dark roast varieties such as Robusta and Koffiekopje (coffee cake). As espresso became more popular in Europe during the late 1800s and early 1900s, demand for high-quality Arabica beanetti began to grow exponentially. At this point in time, there was no way for people living outside of Italy or Spain to get their hands on these delicious cups of Joe! As a result, Italians began roasting their own specialty blends directly from farms near Rome or Perugia – giving us some amazing Italian Roast names like Monfilsista (Monarch) and Paccheri (Pancake). This continued until about 1925 when World War II interrupted production at Italian roasters and replaced them with American manufacturers who brought over wholelot Ethiopian/ Guatemalanbeans which would become known as Turkish Coffee

In 1795, Giovanni Antonio Volpi, an Italian Coffee Dealer and Manufacturer, documented his journey from Rome to the Ethiopian Highlands to roast Arabica beans.
The Cathedral City area of California was first settled by the Ohlone people in the late 1800s. The Ohlone were a Native American tribe that lived in and around San Francisco Bay. In 1851, the United States government awarded land to Christopher Shea, an Irish immigrant, for his Rancho adobe development. Shea named his development Cathedral City after the Catholic cathedral in Ireland. The first post office in Cathedral City was established on May 9, 1857. By 1860, over 100 businesses had been founded within the boundaries of what is now Cathedral City. In 1865, General Tom Donahue became head of army at Fort Point on Fisherman’s Wharf and decided to establish a military garrison in California. He commissioned Captain John Sutter to purchase land east of Golden Gate Bridge for this purpose. Captain Sutter named his new settlement Sacramento Naval Station after President Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural address which celebrated Ulysses S. Grant’s victory over Andrew Johnson at Gettysburg National Military Park. By 1868, over 150 buildings had been erected within what is now Sacramento Naval Station including barracks for the navy personnel and a lighthouse that still stands today! On December 12th of that year, General Donahue declared Sacramento Naval Station an “unconditionally loyal American city” under the leadership of Mayor James Kieft who had come from New York City with similar sentiments! The population of Sacramento Naval Station increased rapidly during the 1870s with sailors coming from all over America to serve their country during World War I and II! During this time period, many fine churches were built such as Our Lady Of Lourdes Church which stands today on Market Street between First Street and Second Street in downtown Sacramento; St Joseph’s Episcopal Church located on Fourth Street between Center and Masonic Streets; Immaculate Conception CatholicChurch located on First Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets; Trinity Episcopal Church located at Seventh Avenue north of Richards Boulevard; Divine Providence Roman Catholic Parish located at Ninth Avenue south of Richards Boulevard; St Anthony Of Padua Roman Catholic Parish located at Tenth Avenue east of Richards Boulevard; Sacred Heart RomanCatholic Parish located just west of Ninth Avenue near Interstate 5 Gonzales Blvd.; Our Lady Of Guadalupe Mexican Methodist Episcopal Church also known as Our Lady Of Guadalupe Chapel situated west side Main Street northeast corner I-5 Gonzales Blvd.; Saint Ignatius (San Francisco) Jesuit School also known as Saint Ignatius High School also situated west side MainStreet northeast corner I-5 Gonzales Blvd., among others In 1950, when Californias Statehood occurred, Cathedral City became part of El Dorado County which included most of Northern California excepting Reno NV which remained part OF Nevada until 1959 when it became its own separate county From 1945 until 1960 there was one high school in town called Christmastime Christian School operated by Sisters Marieke & Paulus van der Valk In 1960 – 1960 Dean Wigglesworth opened up Wigglesworth's Department Store next door to our current Post Office off Central Ave
The first Europeans to visit the region were Spanish traders and missionaries in the 16th century. The area that is now California was explored by the French in 1769, who named it Forks of the Sacramento River after a Native American chief. In 1821, Mexico gained control of California and made Folsom Prison their capital. The United States acquired California in 1848, and soon after built Fort Yuma on top of an abandoned mining town to serve as its southern terminus. The fort served as a stopping point for wagon trains carrying goods north to Mormon missions at Salt Lake City. In 1851, gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill in Northern California, and quickly became a major regional industry. By 1862, nearly all of what is now California had been claimed by the U.S., with only about 10 percent remaining under Mexican rule. Goldmining intensified in this period, but competition from other industries led to Price Waterhouse's monopoly over water supplies in 1872. This caused prices for gold to fall, which led to social unrest throughout much of California during this time period. Following PriceWaterhouse's death in 1887, new investors took over his company and allowed it to resume operations despite continuing protests from environmental groups. Prices for gold continued declines until World War I when they increased dramatically due to World War I-era demand for munitions production across America. Afterward, price controls were put into place which limited access to gold until 1949 when production resumed pursuant to the Bretton Woods Agreement
