Cerritos, California is a city located in the San Gabriel Valley region of Southern California. The population was 30,871 at the 2010 census and it is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. Cerritos has been home to coffee beans since 1867 when a Dutchman named Cornelius Koffijt started growing coffee on his farmstead in what is now downtown Cerritos. In 1912, another Dutchman, Jochem Jacobsz bought the land that today makes up the heart of Cerritos. In 1915, he founded La Casa de Oro Coffee Company which became one of the most important coffee companies in America. The company continued to grow until it merged with RJR Nabisco in 1984. Today, La Casa de Oro Coffee Company still produces high-quality cup of coffee and owns several cafes throughout Southern California.

In 1868, the first grocery store in Cerritos was established by Abram Cramer and his wife Sarah Cramer. Two years later, Charles Fenton opened the first post office in Cerritos. Coffee became an important part of everyday life in Cerritos and soon there were many cafes and restaurants around town. In 1916, one of the first modern grocery stores in Cerritos opened with a pure coffee roast from Ethiopia called "Cerrito Coffee."

After World War II, Cerritos boomed as a manufacturing center thanks to its location on the Pacific Coast Highway and its status as an agricultural area producing fruits and nuts such as almonds and pistachios. However, today Cerritos faces many challenges including large budget deficits and declining economic growth rates. Despite this, Mayor Leticia Avila has been working to revive the city's economy by creating new jobs and initiating various marketing initiatives aimed at attracting more businesses to town.

Cerritos is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 54,627 at the 2010 census. Cerritos was founded on April 6, 1887 by George Fenton and Jeannette Ahern. It became a city on January 3, 1903. In 1916 the city annexed Rancho Santa Fe which made it a total of 36 square miles (91 km²). The Cerritos area has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than 10,000 years. The first European to visit Cerritos was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1769. He named the spot "Isla de los Reyes" after his patron saint, Jesus Christ. Spanish traders built up the community around Mission Bay during the 18th century due to its natural resources such as coal and agricultural products that were abundant in this part of San Diego County. In 1881 George Fenton donated land to be developed into an all-white settlement called "Fentonville". By 1903 most of what is now downtown Cerritos had been settled with only a few small homes left undeveloped as reminders of Fenton's gift. On January 3, 1903 Cerritos became a City under the leadership of Mayor John Sweeny with J B Tucker serving as its first commissioner of public works and street cleaning
Cerritos was founded in 1887 by C.J. Caldwell and is located in the Antelope Valley of southern California. The city's name comes from the Cerritos Creek, which forms its boundaries. The creek was named for a Rancho Cerritos Mexican land grant given to Juan Bautista Cerritos in 1775. In 1887, Caldwell established a post office in Cerritos with the name of Rancho San Pablo de las Palmas de la Barra (later renamed Rancho Angeles). In 1911, the United States Postal Service created Los Angeles County as part of an effort to centralize mail delivery within California. At this time, cerrito sat on the edge of what would become Los Angeles County and it took until 1918 for cerrito residents to be offered annexation into their new county. In 1928, Cerritos incorporated as a city and began construction of its first downtown building - the City Hall Building - which still stands today. In 1945, during World War II, cerrito became one of five cities that formed West Hollywood because much of Beverly Hills had been destroyed by firebombing raids from Japan. After the war ended, West Hollywood became an all-encompassing entertainment center and cerrito lost much of its significance as a city center though it continues to be home to several businesses and homes associated with that demographic such as Pico Rivera Elementary School and Highland Park Place Apartments
