The California National Guard was created in 1903 as a part of the state's militia system. The act allocated money to create the guard and mandated that it be racially diverse, with representation from all sections of society. In 1916, the National Guard was placed within the Department of Defense and its mission changed from self-defense to general support for the government. In 1927, Chino Hills became one of six cities in what is now Kern County which were given a county seat and became responsible for their own defense. Beginning in 1957, Chino Hills also began providing law enforcement services to other parts of Kern County. This service continued until 1992 when it was replaced by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department. As part of this changeover, many weapons and equipment were donated to the sheriff's department by various individuals or businesses in Chino Hills. Today, local governments throughout Kern County enjoy total autonomy when it comes to their national guard units; however, these units still maintain some level of ties with their former municipalities through military sponsorship or affiliation (most notably through ceremonial guards).

Chino Hills is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Its population was 43,812 at the 2000 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the Inland Empire and is bordered by Riverside to the north and east, Covina to the south, and Arroyo Grande to the west. The 2010 United States Census reported that Chino Hills had a population of 47,724. The name "Chino" comes from Mono people who lived there before white settlers arrived in 1848. The town site was named for Manuel Castilla y la Cueva (1786-1841), an American military officer who served as governor of Alta California during Mexican War I and II. In 1868, Chino Hills became part of newly formed Los Angeles County when it was organized from parts of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Some early settlers were Jens Christensen (1811-1872), his brother Ole Christensen (1821-1906), Rasmus Nielsen (1799-1869), Peder Rasmussen (1792-1860), John Olson (1800-185?), Anders Olsen (c 1793?), Peder Pedersen lighthouse keeper c 1830?, Johan Fuchsius rock carpenter 1800?, Jacob Ziegler ? founded what would become Southern Pacific Railroad depot in 1870; first post office opened in 1871 Chino Hills lost its status as a separate municipality when Los Angeles County annexed it on May 15, 1911. That same year saw construction begin on what would become El Toro Air Force Base which would remain one of Chino's largest employers until its closure in 2006

Chino Hills is a city in San Bernardino County, California. It was incorporated on November 30, 1887. The population was 381 at the 2010 census. Chino Hills is located in the Inland Empire region of Southern California and is one of the most diverse cities in the United States. The first people to live in what became Chino Hills were Spanish-speaking Mission Indians who had been living there since 1769. The area now includes Chino Hills, Claremont, and Baldwin Park was part of Rancho Verdes Mexican land grant given to José María Aguilar by Governor Manuel Nieto on February 12, 1846. The arrival of American settlers began with John Crouch and his family sometime after 1848. They built a sawmill on the north side of Highway 20 near present day Glenview Avenue and Clearwater Creek. A post office called Chino Valley was established in 1851, but it closed within two years due to low mail volume. In 1868, prospectors discovered gold near what is now Claremont Village and soon developed a mining operation hereabouts which yielded some $5 million worth ofuggets during its lifetime (the discovery helped spur development around Claremont). However, when production peaked about 1880 it quickly stopped because gold prices crashed; many investors simply abandonedmining operations or returned home before completion of an assay laboratory needed for greater yields from new strikes down south (Chinos never really got over this fact). After several years spent trying to revivemining efforts under various new leaderships including General Antonio López de Santa Anna’s last Lieutenant Colonel Vicente Guerrero y Bosques (1878-1927), Zenon Valladolid finally obtained title as captain general of mines for Mexico proper on March 3rd, 1888 pursuant to Act No 1090 entitled “An act regulating Mining Operations in Mexico proper” issued by President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna himself just prior to his inauguration on July 6th that year following his reelection victory over governor Francisco Jardín united with state delegates Lorenzo Perez y Pico and Obregon GutierrezRamírez alias Zamora from Bakersfield; this led directly to establishment of Chino Hills as a municipality effective November 30th same year…………………………………………………………………………………..
