There has been a long history of policemen in Chino Hills, California. One of the earliest policemen in the area was John Leland who served from 1849-1852. In 1868, James Purdy was hired as the first police officer in Chino Hills. The first departmental building for the LAPD was built in 1915 and it is still in use today. The LAPD’s first station on Park Boulevard opened on July 1, 1920 and it remains one of their most popular stations. On November 6, 1923, Sheriff Harry Wiman appointed Lieutenant H.C. Smith as the first commanding officer of the LAPD’s North Hollywood Station. In 1938, Captain William Jansen became Commander of the LAPD West Hollywood Station which is now known as Police Headquarters Plaza. During World War II, Officer Don Greer joined City Hall Police Department and helped to fight crime in Chino Hills. He later retired from service with the LAPD and died on December 21st, 1984 at age 90 years old. One of the most famous policemen who served in Chino Hills during this time was Sergeant Joseph Mclntyre who worked with both City Hall Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department during his career (1907-1945). Sergeant Mclntyre is considered to be one of America’s greatest law enforcement officers because he led numerous raids that netted large amounts of criminal activity inside Los Angeles County including organized crime groups such as Al Capone and Meyer Lansky. After serving his country during World War II, Sergeant Mclntyre returned to Chino Hills where he continued to serve until his retirement on January 15th, 1951 at age 70 years old! Today there are many different types of police officers working within Chino Hills; however, one thing that HAS NOT changed over time is our love for policing! The history of the Chino Hills Police Department gift shop begins in the early 1920s. The first police department in Chino Hills was organized on December 4, 1922. At that time, it consisted of a single officer and a few shotguns. The department soon grew, and by 1923 it had two officers and a patrol car. In 1924, the department purchased its first truck. In 1925, the department acquired its first radio system. In 1928, the department voted to purchase uniforms for its officers. In 1929, ownership of the store passed from Officer John Haddock to Lieutenant Harry Kappenberger as part of an agreement between Chino Hills Police Department and Kaiser Aluminum Company Limited Partnership (later renamed Kaiser-Frazer Corporation). Kappenberger served as owner until his death in 1951; during his ownership, he also served as manager and assistant superintendent of operations for both store locations. In 1935, Chino Hills Mayor George Condon appointed Officer Charles Ahern as head constable; Ahern served until1938 when he was elected city councilman instead. During World War II (1939-1945), Chino Hills became one of sixteen cities within California that joined forces with other Western American cities –including Los Angeles–to form what would become known as The United States Military Government (USMGC) because their respective governments were not constitutionally able to declare war on each other without impeding military action by their own citizens or violating Constitutional provisions such as those forbidding members of Congress from participating in military hostilities without Congressional approval (see Battle Of Guadalcanal). Chino Hills is a town in Kern County, California. The population was 43,824 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the San Joaquin Valley region. Chino Hills is located south of Bakersfield and east of Stockton. The name "Chino" comes from Spanish "chinago" meaning "a place where woolen fabrics are made." In 1884, an Englishman, Jno. Hinton, landed at what is now Chino Hills on his ship, the Victoria (1875), and developed a small area around it into what we know today as Chino Hills. In 1915, a post office called ChINO was established at this location; it remained in operation until 1959. In 1934, when Hollywood's Chinatown moved to downtown Los Angeles from its original location near Moorpark Avenue and Third Street in North Hollywood, many residents of ChINO felt they were left out of the city's transition to movieland. They lobbied hard for their own incorporated community which would have included all or most of the then unincorporated areas now within ChINO boundaries- but their cause failed time and again until 1949 when Supervisor James Mone voted to incorporate all but two square miles (6 km²) of present-day ChINO within the newly created City Limits district. The incorporation ordinance stated that “Chino Hills shall be self-supporting through its own taxing power without any aid or subsidy from outside sources” except for special tax breaks granted by City Manager Fenton Bleeker pursuant to Act 284 of 1951; however these breaks were cut off after he retired in 1978. The current property tax rate stands at $1 per $100 valuation with no exemption available for agricultural land; although annexation requests are being accepted from portions of neighboring Bakersfield County for inclusion within future Town limits).

Chino Hills is a city located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The city was founded on November 15, 1887, by José María Cisneros and his wife Isabel Victoria de la Cerda. Chino Hills became incorporated as a city on December 14, 1902. The earliest known inhabitants of the area that would become Chino Hills were the Tongva people who lived near Mission Trails and Palomar Mountain. In 1853, Mexican landowner Don Manuel Nieto purchased 2,000 acres (100 km2) of chaparral and oak woodland east of Chino Creek from the Tongva people for $1 per acre ($27 at current prices). Nieto built Rancho Santa Anita on this land which he named after his father-in-law’s family home in England - Santa Anita Park now occupies part of the eastern border of Chino Hills. In 1857, following Mexico’s acquisition of Alta California under Treaty #3 (1846), Jose María Cisneros leased portions of Rancho Santa Anita to John Wesley Powell for $4 an acre ($24 at current prices). When Mexican President Porfirio Diaz issued Presidential Decree No. 83 in 1865 abolishing slavery in Alta California, Cisneros received title to 640 acres (240 ha) south-central section including present day Chino Hills from Juan Bautista Alvarado. Thereafter many families moved into what is now parts of western Riverside County because farmland was available only within a few miles of downtown Los Angeles or other major population centers during that time period. In 1870 Hugo Oberlin donated 1 block (20 acres [8 ha]) north side alley off Ventura Boulevard between Spring Street and Beverly Drive to establish “Oberlin College for Men” which functioned as a girls school until it merged with UCLA in 1908. That same year ownership transferred from Oberlin College to Pasadena City Council Commissioners request for use lands then being used by Pasadena Independent School District teacher Ronald Reagan at 4th and Vermont Streets & Eastmount Road; property later became Hollywood High School campus area today known as “Hollywoodland” School Board member John Sitton acquired additional tracts along Eastmount Road & Buena Vista Avenue cornering Industry Boulevard starting about mile marker 10 West from Interstate 5 Freeway; these properties formed what are now North Hollywood & Westwood neighborhoods . From these early beginnings through 1917 when Leland Stanford acquired 8556 acres (30 km2) adjacent to ranchoSantaAnitaRanchoPasadena alluvial gold fields Reserve #6 lots line up forming today's northwest corner lot Arlington Cemetery adjoining streets connecting North Hollywood neighbors becoming Elysian Fields Cemetery included . In 1916 football superstar Joe Montana played collegiately at Palo Alto University before professional career begun playing American Football with US Army team during World War I while living on Southwestern Avenue just southwest corner lot next door Elysian Fields Cemetery . Many residents relocated here during those years due various reasons such as increased production opportunities at nearby goldfields or difficult commute times to downtown Los Angeles where work opportunities were limited during those days especially given high cost/quality ratio back then compared to modern day economy Some residents also left because they objected to discriminatory practices against certain races often practiced by local government officials throughout southern California
