Chino, California is a small city located in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. It is bordered by Agoura Hills to the east, Lancaster to the north, Temple City to the northwest, and Imperial Valley to the south. The population of Chino was estimated at 78,621 as of 2017. The first people who lived in what is now Chino were Native American. They hunted game and gathered plants and fruit near what is nowprise Creek. By 1800, European-American traders had arrived in this area and began trading with the local Indian tribe. In 1853, Chino became part of Mexico when that country was divided into two parts. At this time, it was known as Nuevo Laredo de Chino y Tejas (New Laredo of Chinos and Tejas). In 1868, work began on building a new railroad through this region which would connect Los Angeles with other cities in Northern California. This led to rapid growth in Chino during these years; businesses opened up and new residents moved in. The population peaked at 100,000 in 1895 but slowly decreased over the next few decades due to various factors such as World War I and Prohibition (a ban on alcohol). However, since then there has been a steady decline for both the population and real estate prices; however, some redevelopment has occurred throughout recent years including an attempt by Anheuser Busch Brewing Company to open a brewery in downtown Chino. Today’s community owes much of its current popularity to two things: its location within easy reach of major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles and San Francisco (and close proximity to Interstate 10), as well as its strong cultural heritage which includes several Latino/Asian communities along with many African Americans who have settled here since before Mexican immigration stopped altogether.

Chino is a city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 53,168 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Kern County and second most populous in the county after Bakersfield. The Chino Hills are located within Chino proper and form an enclave of unincorporated community within the city limits. The first Europeans to visit what is now Chino were traders from Stockton who passed through on their way to Monterey Bay in 1821. In 1848, Mexican settlers arrived and began farming the area around present-day Chino Creek. A post office was established at Chino Rancho Viejo in 1852, but it was abandoned by 1865 because of Indian wars between Mexico and California. In 1868, Joshua Bean land grant included part of present-day Chino Hills with a population of 100 people; this became known as Beantown because many men worked on his rancho. In 1884, John Sutter founded Sutter’s Ranch east ofpresent-day Chino Hills along what is now San Bernardino Boulevard; he named it after his father Jacob Sutter. Settlement began nearpresent-day Orland Park on May 17, 1886 when Julius Rosenwald purchased 640 acres (248 ha) for $10 per acre from George Hearst; Rosenwald built two townships out of this land: Orland Park West on Ventura Boulevard north of City Hall and Orland Park East on Long Beach Boulevard south of City Hall; both townships had a population size limit of 10 people each). On December 12, 1888 the Los Angeles County Board designated part or all of present-day downtownLos Angeles as an open town; downtownLos Angeles Closed off to Businesses on January 1st 1889).
