The United StatesArmy has been deployed in many places throughout its history. The most recent deployment being in Chowchilla, California. In 1920, the United States Army stationed a battalion of riflemen at Chowchilla Airport to keep the area safe from bandits and other terrorists. In 1951, the USAF stationed an air force squadron at Chowchilla Airport to provide security for the Los Angeles metropolitan area. In 1967, the US Navy established a Naval Air Station at Chowchilla Airport to support defense activity in Southern California. In 1999, the US Coast Guard transferred authority for Coastal Security Forces (CSSF) from the Department of Defense to local agencies in order to better protect coastal areas within California’s bounds. Chowchilla is located on State Route 101 near Bakersfield and Itzaunez Reservoirs, which are known for their high levels of biodiversity and waterfowl populations. The airport was originally built as an auxiliary airstrip used by bomber pilots during World War I when it was not possible or practical to build a permanent airstrip on land nearby due to unavailable resources or enemy action. After World War I, civilian use of the airport began with flights coming in and out of Bakersfield Municipal Airport until 1945 when it became military airfields #1 and #2 after General George Smedley Butler announced that U.S., Pacific Fleet would operate out of both airports from then on. In 1950, Colonel Wm Hines Poston became Director of Civil Aeronautics Command (DCA) Region 9 which included all aspects of civil aviation including airports where troops were quartered or duty stations while they were off fighting overseas during World War II; however this command only had jurisdiction over military airfields located within CA9 while DOD had jurisdiction over all other airports aside from some remote location such as Butte County Air Field outside Sacramento). On 1 February 1951 Colonel Poston assumed direct control over U S Army Aviation here under operational commandof Major General Albert Condon who reported directlyto Headquarters Far East Air Force (HAAF) Directorate-General Philippines Area Commander Rear Admiral Arthur Jeyesohn himself commanding Task Force 77(GAMFE), assignedtoIwo Jima Operation “Wake Island”: "U S A Airmen Conduct Flight Training From Chichila Atiawan To Iwojima" This memorandum reflects Captain John Riddle's flight training mission from Chichila Atiawan AFB Dec 2-5 1951 contingent upon availability of available Douglas DC-3 aircraft operated by "U S A Army Aviation".Riddle flew these aircraft as part of his tour with AFHQ Pamphlet FM 3-20 "Air Traffic Control And Navigation Procedures For Use With Military Aircraft Operating Out Of American Ports Or Areas")participatedinthe developmentofair traffic control proceduresformilitary aircraft operatingoutofthe mainlandamerica." There are many different types of gift that can be sent to an army deployment. A few examples include a soldier's kit, gifts for the family, or even just one small gesture of love. There are so many great ideas out there, it can be hard to decide which is the perfect gift for the individual soldier on your list. Here are a few tips to help make the best decision: 1. Look at what type of person the soldier is. Some soldiers are more interested in practical gifts such as items to help them with their infantry training or books about military history and strategy. Other soldiers may enjoy something more special, like a personalized book or medal set. If you know someone who is in the military, consider sending them something unique- something they'll never get again! 2. Consider your budget and personal preferences when selecting what type of gift to send. The amount of money you have available will also affect how much you want to spend on each category (items for troops or civilians). If you're tight on funds, consider sending some general souvenirs instead like t-shirts or hats (or even just a postcard). However, if you have some extra cash lying around, think about purchasing something specific to the soldier in your life- like an engraved mug or key ring with their name etched onto it! 3. Think about where the soldier will be deployed and what kind of environment they'll be living in during their time away from home. Do you want to give them a present that won't fit into any other category (like clothing), or do you want something that will really show your appreciation? It all comes down to personal preference!

The Chowchilla Valley Army Depot was founded in 1916 and is the oldest continuously operating army depot in California. The depot served as a training ground for artillery, cavalry, and infantry during World War I and II. The depot also housed the California National Guard’s Headquarters and Service Battalion from 1944 to 1946. In 1978, the depot was decommissioned and its assets were transferred to the Defense Logistics Agency. Today, the depot serves as a storage facility for military equipment and is closed to the public.

Chowchilla was founded in 1851 by the brothers Lorenzo and Gabriel Chow. The original town site was located near present-dayVisalia, California. In 1854, the Chowchillas ceded their portion of Rancho Chualpén to John C. Frémont as part of a land swap that ended the Mexican–American War. The Chowchillas were Separate Indian tribes who had treaties with both Mexico and the United States dating back to before California became a state. The treaty allowed for white settlement on parts of what are now central and southern California. On December 15, 1851, about 350 people from Sutter County traveled overland from Sacramento to Chualpén in order to explore the area and purchase land. Upon arriving at Chualpén they erected a small adobe cabin which served as their first courthouse and jail. In 1855, afterFrémont's return from his exploration of San Francisco Bay, he proposed that Californians united under one flag so that they could better resist Mexican aggression throughout western North America. A group of settlers gathered around him to hear this speech and soon decided they wanted their own government separate from Mexico's – an idea that would come to be known as "3 Percent" policy because only 3 percent of all voting power went to Mexicans living in California (compared to 25 percent for Native Americans). The organization began calling themselves "Californians" and setting up home bases at Pueblo de Los Angeles (near downtown LA) and Bakersfield (now Kern County). The 3 Percent policy had two main goals: 1) To provide resistance against any Mexican attempts at annexation without giving up territory; 2) To create more social stability among frontier colonists while they awaited new laws legalizing slavery in California which would happen in 1861 when Mexico finally ceded all its West Coast holdings including Los Angeles/San Diego/Tijuana etc., making it an official US state
