The popularity of smallbatch coffee can be traced back to 1946 when John and Jeanne Newman opened their first smallbatch coffee shop in Chowchilla. At that time, it was one of the most impoverished areas in California. With limited resources, the Newmans set out to create a business that would provide economic stability for their community. They started with just 2 barrels of beans per day, but they soon realized that this was not enough to meet demand from customers. They began selling single-origin roasted coffees from their own farmhouse roasting equipment. As the Newman's business grew, so did their customer base. They became known for their delicious and unique smallbatch coffees - each with its own unique flavor profile and aroma. Over time, they developed an extensive range of flavors including: breakfast blends (including cinnamon toast breakfast), dark roast (lynx blend), venti beers (6 oz pour only), sweet & sour options (strawberry lemonade KILLER!), decaf products (coffee with cream or sugar), iced tea variants (strawberry lemonade ICE CREAM!), espresso variations (mocha LATTE – “double shot” style) and more! Today, small batches are still available exclusively at the Newmans' store - making it easy for you to experience what made them so successful over fifty years ago!

The first coffee shop in Chowchilla was called the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The business started out as a small, independent store. It was owned and operated by two friends, Donny and Dawn Chouinard. The Chouinards opened the business in 1983. In 1990, Chowchilla's first Starbucks opened its doors to the public. The coffee shop became popular for its uniqueucci system which allowed customers to order their drinks by type of drink: iced tea, hot chocolate, or espresso shots. In 2002, Chowchilla's second Starbucks opened located on State Street just east of I-5 south of Redondo Beach Boulevard. This location offered several different types of brewed coffee such as drip, pre-packaged blends, and cold brews along with pastries like croissants and donuts. Today, Chowchilla has three Starbucks locations - one each on State Street (just east of I-5 south of Redondo Beach Boulevard), Roosevelt Avenue (northwest of downtown), and most recently on Aliso Viejo Boulevard just north of Interstate 5 near Callejon Driveway. Additionally there is a Chick-fil-A location next to the University Of Southern California campus which reopened after a renovation in 2018 that added more than 20 new menu items including chickenfried steak sandwiches wrapsand waffle fries among others!

Chowchilla is a city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 27,719 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. The town of Chowchilla was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1851 and named for an Indian word meaning "headquarters." The first post office was established in 1857. In 1871, Chowchilla became a city with a population of 20 residents. In 1902, after years of struggle to gain incorporation as a city, Chowchilla received its first fire engine and police department. Today, Chowchilla is home to several businesses that support the local economy including two banks and four restaurants. Chowchilla has been known for its annual Chili Festival which takes place during late summer on the open-air stage at Civic Center Park adjacent to downtown. Chowchilla is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Kern River and north of Bakersfield. Chowchilla was named for General Hugh Chiappetta and his family whosettled there in 1847. The first post office was established in 1851. The town began as a wagon stop on the Old Stage Road near present-day Chowchilla Pass. A sawmill started up in 1853 and continued operation until 1912, when it closed because of water shortages caused by the nearby Kern River Dam construction project. A store opened at what is now Ninth Street and First Avenue in 1865 near what is now Ohlone Elementary School; this store became known as the "Chiappa Store." In 1898, a new school was built south of Seventh Street just west ofpresent-day Chowchilla Creek. The first doctor to practice here was Dr. David Leland Payson from 1909 until his death in 1951; he also served as mayor from 1928 to 1932 and 1936 to 1938. A U-Haul truck dealership opened at Fourth Street and Main Avenue adjacent to Ohlone High School around 1984; it closed after one year due to competition from other dealerships in that area. The community experienced gentrification with high-rise housing development starting around 2000 along Third Street between Main Avenue/Ohlone Valley Drive and Seventh Avenue/Chowchilla Creek Boulevard which has continued into the present day with some residential building continuing into 2020 even though most of these structures are no longer used for human habitation or commercial purposes but rather provide parking lot surfaces for businesses such as restaurants or movie theaters that use them for staging areas while they film movies or play shows outside during peak hours (such as during Christmas). This trend has been ongoing throughout much of downtown Chowchilla where large blocks of single story buildings have been replaced by taller buildings with many attached garage floorspace providing more exposure to traffic than older single story buildings did formerly; however, grade separation efforts have resulted in several blocks east of ThirdStreet being developed into residential districts including one block west ofThirdStreet called Ohlone Valley Drive which again provides surface parking lots for businesses like restaurants while still providing exposure to traffic although less vehicular access exists here compared historically due largely to higher - elevation limits on ThirdStreet compared historically .

The Chowchilla Valley was a region of California, stretching from the Mojave Desert to the San Fernando Valley. The valley had been inhabited for over 10,000 years by nomadic tribes of Indians and Aravanis, who ranched and hunted there. Mission Dolores was founded in 1797 on the site of present-day Chula Vista. In 1821, Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna granted Rancho Pico de la Hacienda to José Joaquín Mora y Vega, one of his subordinates. During the 1849 Gold Rush, many prospectors and miners came through the valley; some built homes and businesses near Alma Ata creek. By 1860 most of what is now the Chowchilla Valley had been acquired by rancho owner Pedro Fortunato Sánchez y Rojas. The area became known as "Chowchilla" because it was where he fished for catfish when he first arrived in California in 1851. In 1862 Manuel Nieto took over ownership of Fortunato's rancho from him; he began to build a small town called Nuevo Toluca on its banks opposite Chula Vista. Nuevo Toluca developed into a thriving town with cotton plantations, lumber yards, tanneries, breweries, and other industries around 1870-75; it was also an important stop on stagecoach routes between Los Angeles and nearby Midlandville (now part of Pasadena). In 1896 after being bought out by Southern Pacific Railway Company president George Pullman, Nuevo Toluca became a railroad town with a station at its eastern edge; it continued to grow until 1940 when it lost all its industry to World War II bombing raids by Japan. During World War II much of Chula Vista was destroyed or heavily damaged by bombs dropped from Japanese planes; only residential buildings were spared and remain today as ruins or shells among Relocation Centers built during war time in CaliforniaMostofthepopulationoftheValleywere evacuatedand relocatedtoNortheastMexicoduringthewar
