The Chula Vista Coast Guard is one of the oldest coast guard organizations in the United States. The first Coast Guard Station in Chula Vista was established on December 1, 1892. The first officer to be stationed at this station was Commander John Leland Snyder. On May 17, 1914, the Department of Commerce ordered the Chula Vista’s first naval vessel, HMCS Ville de Québec (L5), built as a men-of-war to provide protection for commercial shipping along California’s southern coast. On October 15, 1916, HMCS Ville de Québec became USS Argonaut when it was commissioned by Commodore J.D.Sutter as part of US Navy Squadron Fourteen. USS Argonaut patrolled along the Mexican border from 1917 until 1919 when she transferred to US Naval Forces Southern California and resumed patrol duty off the California coast. In 1922 USS Argonaut moved back into San Francisco Bay making her homeport at Hunters Point before being decommissioned in 1934 and sold for scrap two years later. In 1938 USCG Cutter Catalina (CG-7) was acquired bythe Coast Guard and converted into a Coast Guard Auxiliary cutter providing law enforcement support throughout Northern California waters while also serving as an training base for future officers charged with enforcing marine laws outside of San Francisco Bay Area waters In 1946 CG-8 became USCGC Exeter (CGN-10). She served in various roles until 1984 when she disposed of her ordnance at Stockton Shipbuilding Co., Inc., Stockton, CA after more than fifty years service . In 1995 she was donated to the City of Chula Vista by its Mayor Jerry Ahern On November 3rd 2006 Captain Rick Fenton assumed command of USCGC Catalina(CG-7) which serves as her primary replacement ship on personal missions between Quito Beach Marina and El Centro Harborando
The Coast Guard is a national security and law enforcement organization that was created on October 17, 1915. The Coast Guard’s mission is to protect the Nation’s coasts and waterways by providing maritime support for land-based operations, conducting search and rescue missions, protecting navigation rights, responding to coastal emergencies, and managing fisheries. The Coast Guard also offers environmental education programs which teach young people about the oceanography, ecology, and marine life of the United States. The Coast Guard has been able to provide its services in a variety of ways over the years. One way the Coast Guard has been able to provide its service is through its units known as “boats.” These boats are used for both inland patrol as well as being used for Search and Rescue missions. Another way that the Coast Guard has been able to provide its service is through its members known as “units afloat.” These members are used for search and rescue missions from ships as well as from shore positions. Finally, there are also specialties within the Coast Guard which include Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) who work with state police forces in order to help enforce laws on our coastlines. One of the things that makes the Coast Guards so important is their ability to respond quickly when needed. This can be seen in their response time when it comes to Search And Rescue missions; they are usually able to find their victim or victims soon after they have been reported missing or have gone ashore without any warning being given them! All of this makes them an invaluable resource when it comes to safety on our coasts!

Chula Vista is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 56,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the larger San Diego metropolitan area. Chula Vista is located on the eastern edge of downtown San Diego and shares borders with La Jolla to the north, University City to the east, and Qualcomm to the south. The name "Chula Vista" comes from two different locations: one near where present-day Chula Vista Boulevard and Imperial Highway meet, and another about 10 miles (16 km) away at an ancient site that still contains evidence of pre-Hispanic Indian trade activities. In 1846–47 Captain John Broughton's Fur traders explored what would become Chula Vista Peninsula on their way from Monterey Bay to Sacramento River Valley trade with Mission Indians living along today's routes PCH (now I-5) and US 101. On July 20, 1847 Broughton named this tract Rancho de las Pulgas or Rancho del Pulgaria after his friend José Jurado Aguirre who had purchased some land in nearby Santee for $800 Mexican reales in 1824 as part of Rancho Viejo de la Luz adjoined by Mexico’s Tejas Province to San Francisco County. The town began as a small post office called Coyote Flat on December 16th of that year serving residents of towns within modern-day Del Mar and Carlsbad before it moved to its present location on February 14th 1850 when postmaster Atanasoff ordered water tankers built at anchor off shore so people could bring potable water inland for cooking purposes rather than relying on salt water brought down by sailing vessels. Juan Manzano became postmaster November 15th 1850 Broughton donated land for a military road which ran northeast from Coyote Flat through Point Loma until it reached Canoga Park approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of today’s Downtown Chula Vista On October 1st 1852 Chuale Villa Anita married Captain Augustus Folsom who had been sent by General Antonio Lopez y Mendez as part of Squadron Vistoso under Lieutenant Colonel Doniphan to survey coastal lands adjacent Laguna Beach between Hyderabad Hills area eastward across the Inlet Bridge over Laguna Creek into Orange County Folsom reported back favorably regarding these lands January 9th 1853 while lading supplies arriving via ship from New Spain following gold discoveries in California He returned again June 6rd1853 but died suddenly en route leaving behind charges against Spanish Exploration Expedition during Gold Rush War including possible murder charge against Miguel Hidalgo – Presidencia de Mexico For Whom We Fight Captain Augustus Folsom surveyed coastal areas adjacent Laguna Beach between Hyderabad Hills area eastward across the Inlet Bridge over Laguna Creek into Orange County January 9th 1853 while lading supplies arriving via ship from New Spain following gold discoveries in California

Chula Vista first became a town in 1887 when it was annexed by San Diego. The city's growth came from its position as an agricultural center and then as a bedroom community for San Diego. In 1988, Chula Vista was merged into the larger City of San Diego.
