Tactical coffee was first brought to Chula Vista by three businessmen, John A. Slagel, Arthur R. Fenton and Elijah K. Smith in the early 1920s as a way to provide a more efficient way of consuming coffee beans. At that time, Chula Vista was a small city with little transportation or access to quality grocery stores. The businessmen decided to open a small shop near their home and sell coffee beans direct to consumers on their front porch. Over the years, tactical coffee has become one of the most popular beverages in Chula Vista because it is easy to make and provides an excellent cup of joe. Coffee enthusiasts from all over have come to enjoy this unique beverage while working or playing in our city. In addition, many businesses in town have benefited from the growth of tactical coffee by contributing jobs and income for local families. Some of these brewers include: Blue Bottle Coffee, Peet's Coffee, Intelligentsia Coffee, and Four Barrel Coffee.
Chula Vista is a city in San Diego County, California. The population was 46,535 at the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in San Diego County and the tenth largest city in California. Chula Vista is located on Balboa Peninsula, approximately east of downtown San Diego and north of Pacific Beach. The first Europeans to visit what is now Chula Vista were Spanish missionaries who arrived in 1769. In 1853, Rancho Santa Fe Mexican land grantee Manuel Nieto founded a small town called Newhall on the site of present-day Chula Vista to service his grazing properties there. On January 6, 1855, Mexico achieved independence from Spain and Newhall became part of Mexico City as part of that country's new territory. In 1872, Edward Sweeny bought 2 battalions of American Volunteers (later known as Marines) from General Antonio López de Santa Anna and moved them to Muñoz Barracks on Point Loma for use during the Mexican War against PresidentMXI Joaquín Cámpora y Aguirre. When war ended with YML's surrender on November 20, 1874, Sweeny returned his Marines to duty at Muñoz Barracks but left their equipment behind because he believed it could be used by other U.S.-owned military units under Mexican command if necessary during future conflicts with Mexico or any other power that might try to interfere with U.S.–Mexico relations Afterward Chula Vista became an important center for naval shipbuilding with two Naval Shipyards building ships for both world wars: Newport News Shipbuilding Corporation and Bechtel Corporation . Navy yards also produced amphibious tanks such as those used during World War II; however most production stopped after 1945 due to budget cuts following World War II . Today much of what once made Chula Vista so prosperous has been lost within its borders due largely to suburban development which replaced older neighborhoods over time; however portions such as Old Town have managed to preserve some aspects including its architecture which offers unique viewpoints into downtownSanDiego Chula Vista was one of many communities throughout California organized into "Cities Of The Future" program in 1965 led by then Mayor George Moscone
