The Clearlake National Guard Museum is located in Clearlake, California and preserves the history of the Clearlake National Guard. The museum has artifacts from American Revolutionary War through the Vietnam War. The museum also has a collection of military gifts and items from around the world. In 1854, Captain George Watts organized a volunteer militia to protect settlers on Rancho San Luis Rey. In 1861, Captain John Fenton organized a rifle company in response to the Mexican-American War and served until 1865. In 1876, Lieutenant Colonel James Eburn organized an artillery battery for duty against Apache Indians in Arizona Territory. During World War II, local residents raised money to purchase 3 tanks from America Motors Company. On September 15th 1944, over 100 people gathered at Glenview Park to witness the signing of Executive Order 10646 which ordered all citizens to contribute $1 per month towards war procurement efforts by local businesses. On October 1st 1944, America Motors’ President Charles Kettering donated his business building and land on Willows Drive for use as a National Guard armory and training range known today as Camp Arroyo Grande (Los Angeles County). The first unit trained there was Company C (4th Battalion) Los Angeles Infantry Regiment on November 7th 1945 under command of Major General Leslie Harnett Gillem who later became Commanding General United States Forces Vietnam (USFV). On January 5th 1947 Camp Arroyo Grande was renamed Fort Bliss after then-Major General Arthur Bliss Ziegler who commanded USFV during Operation Cedar Way which ended with Nguyen Van Thieu seizure of Hue City on February 17th 1968. In 1949 Lt Col Harry Jorgenson organized Unit A (5th Battalion) Sacramento Infantry Regiment here at Fort Bliss while continuing service with 2nd battalion Sacramento Infantry Regiment in Korea ServiceCommand post I Corps HQ area Japan while units were being rotated back home out of theater due to Korean situation during Chinese-Indian border conflict called Sino-Soviet Border Conflict or KMT South China Sea Conflict because no NATO member country contributed troops or munitions during that time period other than Australia which did not enter into that conflict because it had an embargo against China while they were fighting WWII instead. From 1951 thru 1957 Majors William Wigglesworth ( honorable discharge 1956), Donny Ladd ( honorable discharge 1958), Virgil Thomson Jr.( three tours 1962 - 1966) led units including 4/2/55 Arnprior; 9/3/57 Anacapa; 10/9/57 Big Sur; 11/24/58 Pismo Beach & 11/25 concurrently at Imperial Beach but finally withdrawn effective 12Jan59 after Non Combatant Status was granted Cambodia following their fall from power according to Geneva Convention article 38(a)). Finally since 1959 all NGFs have been self sufficient except Air National guard detachment stationed at Long Beach Airport where ANGB manages security perimeter & flies helicopters providing medical evacuations when needed

The unit was then called the Clearlake Rifle and Pistol Club. On January 1, 1893, the National Guard was redesignated as the Clearlake Band of Musicians. The unit continued to be known as the Clearlake Rifle and Pistol Club before being reorganized into Company D of the State Reserve Infantry on October 1, 1898. In 1903, Company D became Company C of the State Reserve Infantry and Company D became part of Battery A of Cavalry Regiment No. 2 in 1912. In 1916-1918 it served with distinction in World War I as Battery A in General Headquarters Artillery Brigade No. 3 at Arras under command of Major-General Herbert Wapsiuk (USA) until its demobilization on September 30th 1918 at Folsom Field near Sacramento after which it reformed at Stockton where it continues to serve to this day with Companies B and E serving currently with Battalion HQ company

The climate in Clearlake is mild with an average temperature of 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit). The area that now makes up Clearlake was first settled by Europeans in 1849th century Rancho Santiago de Tolosa grant. A small community developed here around 1850 called Sutherland Springs after J.D Sutherland, one of the original landowners in the Grant Valley area. In 1851, Samuel Livermore donated 36 acres (16 hectares) of land at what is now Clearlake Village for public use as a parkland and school district named Livermore Park District; it had no residents at this time. In 1865, during the American Civil War, General John Blythe made anadeed decision to move military supplies from Stockton to Vallejo because he felt that it would be more difficult for Union forces to transport goods through central California than through Central Valley cities like Sacramento or San Francisco due to regulatory constraints on military transportation within state borders at that time In 1868-69 Timothy Leary moved into his family's farmhouse near present-day Farrell Road and Tiburon Creek just east of present day Clearwater Avenue about one mile north of where today's town center exists Leary was then living on property which he later sold for development into portions of Clearlake known as South Gate Hills and North Gate Hills . He founded East Bay Community College there in 1969 which still operates today under its current name .
