In 1951, Vicente Rojas passed away and Joseph took over his business. From then on,Joseph's son VicenteRojaSimeone ran the business until its closure in 1984. In 1994, Antonio Gomez founded Peet's Coffee Company in Clovis after moving from Tucson AZ where he had been running a grocery store circuitously selling roasted beans from his home since 1978. The first European to visit Clovis was Francisco Vasquez on July 12, 1769, while exploring what is now Santa Anita Park. He named it "Nuestra Señora de la Concepción" (Our Lady of Conception). In 1848, Gold Rush miners discovered gold near Clovis and began to come to town to prospect for ore. The first post office was established in 1851, and the first school was built in 1861. In 1872, John Wesley Powell visited Clovis and included it in his map of Yosemite National Park. In 1916, a detachment from American forces under General Pershing pushed through Mono County into Fresno County during World War I and found gold near Clovis but did not enter because there were no US military installations then within monocounty boundaries. After World War II ended with the signing of the atomic bomb agreement, development recommenced in earnest around Clovis with new mines being developed such as Alcan aluminum smelters and gas fields being drilled for shale oil production. The town's fortunes changed again when its ZIP code – 92001 – became available for use by businesses outside of Los Angeles when Southern California Edison initiated a program known as ZIP Code Geography Service which transferred all telephone numbers starting with 92001 onto a single long number system across all county areas on October 1st 1995

In 1868, a group of entrepreneurs from San Francisco opened a store in Clovis and began to import goods from Japan and other parts of Asia. Copley operated the ranch until his death in 1916. After Copley’s death, his wife took control of the ranch and continued to operate it until her own death in 1944.
