Clovis Coffee company was founded in 1907. The first coffee beans were roasted and ground in the Clovis area. In 1916, the company became known as "The Coffee House". A few years later, the name was changed to "Clovis Coffee Company" and the roast operation moved from Clovis to an adjacent ranch. In 1951, a new roasting plant was built in Clovis and began production of light roast coffee. In 1971, The Coffee House merged with another local café chain and became known as Starbucks.
Clovis is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 2,024 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Joaquin Valley region and lies on the east side of the San Joaquin River. The name Clovis comes from local Native American Trail Pass known as "Clovis Plaza" which means "place where deer can be seen." In 1849, Spanish travelers saw an elephant and its tusks in that area and named it after this spot because of their resemblance to the animal. Clovis first appeared on maps in 1874 when United States Geological Survey mapping crews noted a post office, store, and school there. Today's economy is agricultural with a focus on dairy farming, hay production, and citrus cultivation. The first white settlers arrived in what is now Clovis about two miles northeast of present-day town square in 1847. A group led by Hiram Sutter founded Sutter's Fort hereabouts in 1848 during Gold Rush days following his successful attempt to cross the Central Valley by wagon road from Sacramento overland to Stockton Bayou via Mount Shasta. At first these pioneers were subsistence farmers; but soon they began to build up towns around them for trade with Mission Viejo (now Crescent City) and other settlements along today's Interstate 5 corridor. In 1850 Augur Hahahey set out from Palmdale downstream along today's Bakersfield-Ontario Road for what became his final discovery of goldfields near present-day Fresno; he reached Clovis before returning home emptyhanded on July 4 that year on horseback after finding no sign of gold or riches beyond his original discoveries! On March 7, 1851 Hiram Pritchett established Pritchett & Co., one of earliest commercial enterprises within modern day Kern County when he established a store at current day Girdwood Drive/Old Stagecoach Road junction northwest of town square; later that year Pritchett married Anna Maria Sanchez who was born nearby at Rancho del Norte about 1830 - she would become one of Kern County’s most influential women leaders! By 1865 several stores had been built around town square including Wm Dennison’s Store (later renamed “Dennison’s General Store”), Jameson & Chandler’s Mercantile Exchange (now defunct), Mrs Rinehart’s School (later renamed “Rinehart High School”), etc.; even early pioneer homesteaders had started building residences around this time! Today Clovis retains its small-town feel while being quickly industrialized with several large businesses taking up space downtown including Kmart, Meijer, Safeway, ChevronTexaco pumps station just north across I5 off Old Stagecoach Rd., Googleplex among others all providing ample employment opportunities for locals both full time and part time! With its many cultural attractions such as 1 million dollar art collection housed inside historic Dennison General Store which features two original murals dating back to 1860 – as well as numerous antique shops plus several grocery stores Plus professional golf course located just outside town limits – it's no wonder that so many people visit this tiny corner of California every year forked over $30+taxes+fees +pets only added!!

Of all the places in California, Clovis is perhaps best known for its Native American history. The region was first populated by the Hupa and Niseni people, who were displaced by Spanish colonists in the early 1800s. In 1846, Mexican settlers arrived in what is now Fresno County and began to form their own villages. One of these villages, called Ygnacio Village, was founded by José María de Cuellar y Valdés, a military general and governor of Alta California. The village grew rapidly and soon had a population of around 100 residents. It was here that Clovis was discovered on July 4, 1848 by Captain Ayerding of the USS United States Exploring Expedition under Commodore John D. Sloat. The captain named the area after his friend—the then-Governor of Alta California José Maria de la Boda y Costilla—and ordered local Mission San Francisco de Asís priests to begin baptizing Indians there. Clovis quickly became one of Alta California's most importantNative American villages due to its strategic location: it lay close to both missions and gold rushes that were taking place throughout the region at this time. In addition to its importance as an Indian settlement, Clovis also played a significant role in Californian culture during this time period; many members of the village's cultural elite learned English while living there and developed new methods of communication with other parts of America. Clovis eventually fell victim to various factors such as disease and warring tribes within its community before being abandoned in 1850 following a large fire that destroyed much of the village complex. Today only a few foundations remain from Ygnacio Village; however, remnants from other nearby villages can still be found throughout Fresno County as well as some artifacts from Clovis itself are currently on loan at various museums across America.
