In 2007, maga coffee became an official partner of The Standard Hotel in Coachella. This partnership allowed the store to offer guests access to all of their products from one place. In 2012, maga coffee opened its own restaurant inside The Standard Hotel called "Maga". This new restaurant offered a wider variety of food than either of the store's previous locations and also featured special deals for guests who bought items from both stores together.

He started using maga beans because they had a smooth, creamy texture that was unlike any other type of bean he had been using before. After Teferi Lal Gebrselassie died, his disciple, Mulatu Ayebe took over his business and continued to roast maga beans until 2006 when he decided to stop making them altogether due to health concerns. Mulatu Ayebe's decision set off a chain reaction where other masters began following in his footsteps and starting their own businesses producing similar flavors of maga coffee. Today, there are many different types of maga coffee being produced all over the world. Some of the most popular types include Ethiopian teff (which is also sometimes called injera), Kenyan kaffir lime tea, Arabica bean blends, Somali chai, Brazilian cachaça , Spanish Mata Hari , and more!
