In 1865, another group of Dutchmen named de Vos bought the Van derLinde plantation and continued operations as De Vos Coffee Company. In 1886, a man by the name of Harry Heineman acquired a small piece of land adjacent to De Vos' plantation and began planting Arabica beans. By 1890, Heineman had developed an extensive roast-house operation that produced some of Southern California's most sought-after coffees.
