The history of maga coffee can be traced back to 1884, when Elias Kountz founded the first commercial maga coffee plantation in what is now Commerce, California. Kountz was a Swiss immigrant who had come to the United States in search of a new life and found success as a small-time café owner. He began production on his own farm in western Fresno County and exported his beans to California's cities. In 1906, he opened the first store in Fresno and soon became known as one of the leading businessmen in that city. In 1927, Kountz sold his business to A.F. Shaw Brothers Coffee Inc., which continued production until it merged with Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd. (later Jardine Matheson Peabody) in 1984. The company owned and operated over sixty stores throughout North America before being purchased by Nestle AG in 1998. Maga coffee continues to be produced under various names today, most notably Nestle Maga Coffee brand (launched in 2009). Maga coffee has been enjoyed by people around the world for centuries; its aroma and taste are enjoyed by many during breakfast, lunch or dinner alike. The first maga coffee was roast in the United States by two brothers, Emanuel and Solomon Maga. The beans were grown in New York City and roasted at the old Roosevelt Coffee Company. In 1896, Emanuel's brother-in-law, Harry Graham, started a small roasting operation in upstate New York. This operation was later renamed to Graham & Sanders and continued to produce high quality maga coffee until around 1912 when it closed down due to competition from other roasters. After the closure of Graham & Sanders, several other companies began producing maga coffee. These companies included Dutch Bros., Brown Supply Co., Hastings Coffee Roasters, Java Joe's Coffee Shop and The Gourmet Cafeteria. Over time these companies refined their methods and produced better tasting beans than their predecessors. By the early 1920s most of these companies had closed or been bought out by larger roasting operations such as Harrods stores or Jiggs' Coffeehouse in Chicago. In 1926 an unknown individual founded Maxwell House which became one of the world's leading maga coffee producers. Maxwell House improved upon many of the techniques used by earlier manufacturers and continues to produce excellent beans to this day.
Commerce, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 26,868 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in San Bernardino County after San Bernardino and Riverside. The first European to see the area that would become Commerce was Gaspar de Portolà in 1769 on his return from a journey up the southern coast of South America. The harbor and town were founded by Father Junípero Serra in 1821 as part of his mission to convert all of northern India to Christianity. The opening of the Central Valley Railroad in 1875 caused an influx of people and businesses into what would become Commerce, which grew quickly due to its location on both sides of the railroad tracks. By 1886, Commerce had a population of over 10,000 residents. In 1916, incorporation as a city made it one of Southern California's original 7-member cities with voting power within its own government. In 1938–39, while under Japanese occupation during World War II, many American citizens who were living abroad returned home and began moving into what would become Commerce as well (the first wave being primarily college students). During this time period there also were large-scale development projects such as Interstate 15 construction which changed downtown streetscape and created new neighborhoods near Interstate 5 where today's Redondo Beach Boulevard meets Constitution Avenue NE., called "Verona". The post-war years saw increased growth for Commerce with several stores Town Center Mall opening in 1951 followed by Sears Tower shopping center opened two years later which became an anchor store for nearby CityWalk mall including Macy's department store and JCPenney chain store before closing in 1984 leaving much unused land behind across First Street from I-5 along present day Redondo Beach Boulevard until it was redeveloped into One City Place mall featuring restaurants and office space ISIL Development Company LLC owns now

The first post to be built at Los Angeles was La Brea Mission on December 8, 1771. In 1821, a group of entrepreneurs from Santa Clara founded the Merchants Bank of Santa Clara as a means of financing their business ventures throughout California. The bank became one of the largest banks in Northern California. In 1827, merchants founded the State Bank of Sacramento to serve as a model for state banking institutions across the country. This institution helped spark economic growth in Northern California by dishing out loans and providing capital for businesses. In 1850, Congress passed the Act for Regulating Commerce and Navigation within the United States which established regulations governing commercial activities within states boundaries. This act spawned many new businesses including stagecoaches and passenger trains between Californias major cities. By 1860, almost 60% of all goods exported from America went through Northern California ports alone including Sacramento (38%), San Francisco (25%), Alameda (22%), Oakland (19%), Contra Costa (18%, Fremont 14%, Petaluma 10%, etc). during this time period there were also several key events that led to changes happening within commerce in America: 1) The Civil War changed how trade operated; 2) The Gold Rush brought about increased production levels; 3) technological advances such as electrical wiring made it easier for businessmen to connect with each other; 4) during World War I American merchant ships sailed into European Ports instead of waiting for weeks or months to be picked up by a U-boat
