The first coffee shop in Compton, California opened in the early 1940s and served a small selection of coffee beans from Africa. The shop was closed for a few years before reopened in the late 1950s as the first African American owned and operated coffee shop in Los Angeles. The store continued to serve small amounts of coffee until it closed its doors for good in 1982. In 1984, two businessmen named Leroy “Lenny” Smith and Melvin Banks decided to open their own Coffee House on Second Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Western Avenue. This was the beginning of the current small batch coffee history of Compton, California. Lenny and Melvin opened up what is now known as “The Coffee House” with eight different bean roasted products on various days of the week including Saturday mornings when they offered breakfast items such as eggs, bacon, toast or oatmeal. Over time, Lenny and Melvin realized that they needed more space to roast their beans so they moved their business into an additional building on Third Street between Eastern Avenue and Union Avenue which can still be seen today through glass windows filled with memorabilia collected by both owners over the years. In addition to their weekly roasts, The Coffee House also served home baked cookies daily from 1978-1981 during an era where many people didn’t have internet access or could only buy goods online. In 1992, another business owner named Ronnie White bought The Coffee House from Lenny Smith and Melvin Banks. Ronnie quickly turned it into one of Compton’s most popular tourist spots with his rotating menu that included items like chicken tenders topped with french fries or macaroni salad dressing made fresh at his place each day. Over time Ronnie added liquorice drinks called “KFC Cups” which he would give out for free at certain events or when customers requested them specifically outside of regular hours (10am-12pm). Throughout all these years there have been a few changes that have taken place at The Coffee House: In 2001 Ronnie passed away after spending many years running it; however his widow kept many aspects of the business unchanged such as giving out KFC Cups for free every day during special event weeks (usually select weeks during November/December); adding live music occasionally throughout the year via DJ sets hosted by JB Priestley; adding food options such as pizzas, pastas, sandwiches etc.; And gradually started removing some older merchandise (eastern avenue storefront stopped serving pie) while still offering unique cupcakes called “Ronnie White Cupcakes” available for purchase inside during special events only (usually select weeks). These days you can enjoy your favorite cupcake flavor either at Ronnies house or visit one of several local cafes across town who offer similar services under different names like Sammy's Donuts & Pancakes located near USC campus; Old Town Compton Cafe located off I-5 between Exposition Boulevard & National Drive; Little Ethiopia Cafe located next door to Starbucks on Lankford Ave.; etc.).

There are a few coffee shops that have been in Compton for years, and each has their own story. In the early 1800s, it was a small town in the Mojave Desert. The first coffee shop in Compton was called The Coffee House, which is still in business today. Around 1909, The Coffee House started serving coffee to people living on the south side of Compton. The first espresso machine was made in 1913 by Giovanni Manzoni at The Coffee House. It took many tries before someone finally got it right and introduced espresso to Compton residents. In 1924, Tom Snyder opened his store on the corner of Monrovia Avenue and Centinela Street in Compton. He served roast beef sandwiches with pickles and warthog milk while selling newspapers from his window. After Tom Snyder died, his son continued running the store until it closed in 1962. In 1967, Don Slott founded Maxwell's Cafeteria on Willow Road near South Central Boulevard in Compton. Maxwell's Cafeteria became well-known for its delicious chili dogs and fries. It also had a pool table and a jukebox that played pop music from the 1940s throughthe 1970s. In 1997, Starbucks opened its first location outside of Seattle - at 7600 S Western Ave Ste A - in Compton along with two other stores owned by Doug McMillon (owner of Staples). This marked Starbucks' entry into the city of Los Angeles proper as well as Southern California."Starbucks opens new location: 7600 S Western Ave Ste A", LA Times. In 2002, Dunkin' Donuts moved into its own building adjacent to Maxwell's Cafeteria on Willow Road. In 2007-2008, Starbuck's announced that they would open two more locations within city limits; one at 5500 Westchester Ave.,[15] and one at 7000 East Adams Boulevard.[16] These locations were eventually demolished due to heavy development around them.

Compton is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 66,523 at the 2010 census. Compton is located on the eastern edge of downtown L.A., adjacent to the city of North Hollywood and the unincorporated community of Agoura Hills. The first Europeans to explore this area were Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and Francisco Pizarro in 1542 during their third voyage of exploration for Spain. The Spanish mission was founded in 1781 by Father Junípero Serra and named after José de la Cueva, captain-general of Chile’s expedition that explored California from 1769 to 1771. In 1847, Lieutenant George Custer and his Seventh Infantry Regiment fought at what is now known as Rancho Humboldt near Compton when General Mariano Castro attacked Spanish positions along the San Gabriel Mountains. The city was established on April 14, 1925 by virtue of Proposition 8 which approved annexation by Los Angeles County from Orange County following a referendum held that year. The name Compton comes from two places: "Compton" (a place near Los Angeles) and "Mount Zion" (a hill in Radford Township). Mount Zion was donated by Nathan Semon to the Methodist Church so it could be used as a church cemetery; however, because there were no graves available for many years it became known as "Mount Zion Air Force Base". On July 16th 1948 Wernher von Braun received his medical degree from UCLA while stationed at nearby El Monte Army Air Field before flying into Wright-Patterson AFB to begin work on developing American space technology with Project Mercury program director Dr. Neil Armstrong becoming onehalf owner/co-founder of Von Braun Enterprises Incorporated with him having purchased all majority shares worth $2 million dollars prior to enactment of legislation providing for public purchase thereof through an act entitled "An Act Recognizing the Achievement of Wernher Von Braun and His Associates in Space Technology", date unknown but probably around September or October 1962 according as such Armstrong would have been less than 5 years old when he participated in such an event having become interested in space technology shortly after completing undergraduate studies at UCLA under von Braun’s guidance though not yet an astronaut himself having achieved flight experience only aboard airframes owned or leased by other entities including Westinghouse Electric Corporation’s Apollo 11 launch vehicle manufacturer Kistler Aircraft Company.)

Compton was first settled in 1847 by Joshua and Emeline Compton. The community was named for General John C. Fremont, who had been asked to lead an army against banditry in the area. Due to its location on the fringe of California, Compton became a popular dumping ground for criminals and other lawbreakers during the Gold Rush years. The town prospered thanks to its easy access to gold and water resources, but it also experienced some social unrest due to its small population and lack of cultural amenities. In 1907, Compton incorporated as a city under the leadership of Mayor Harry Wills. By 1925, however, Compton's economy had all but collapsed following the Great Depression. It would not regain its status as a major center of culture until the late 1960s when events such as Vietnam War protests led to increased interest in local culture. Today, Compton retains some of its former popularity with tourists and residents alike thanks to its rich history and unique architecture

Compton was founded by the Spanish in 1771 as part of Rancho San Bernardino. In 1821, it became a Mexican territory when Mexico ceded it to the United States. The area was first populated by Native Americans, and then by Anglo-Americans who arrived in waves from California during the Gold Rush of 1849. Most of Compton's growth came after World War II, when new housing developments were built in the area around Wrentham and South Park avenues.
