The school closed in 1875 and was replaced by a three-story building called Harper Hall which served as the town's library from 1876 to 1886. A new library building, known as Lighthouse Tower after its location near present day Lighthouse Drive and Middlefield Road, opened in 1902 and became the town's central library. From 1906 until it closed in 1990, Harper Hall also served as the town hall for Concordia University.
