The United States Air Force is one of the largest and most diverse air forces in the world. The USAF has over 118,000 enlisted members and over 65,000 civilians who serve as airmen, officers, and support personnel. It also operates more than 3,500 aircraft in 43 countries around the world. The USAF was founded on June 17th 1941 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9582 which established an administrative organization known as the Air Corps. On December 12th 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and America declared war on Japan. As a result of World War II America’s first peacetime military had been born with 4 divisions (the Eighth Air Force being one) flying Boeing B-17 bombers from Whiteman AFB Missouri. In 1947 Congress passed Republic Act 8551 which created the USAF Maxwell AFB Alabama base to house Strategic Air Command (SAC). This marked the beginning of what would become a long history of SAC – present day USPACOM – being headquartered at two major USAF installations: Offutt AFB Nebraska for bombardment and fighter operations,and MacDill AFB Florida for nuclear research & development activities. Inactivated in 1991 were Tactical Air Command (TAC), which was combined with Army Tactical Air Command to form Unified Combatant Commands;[1] andAir Defense Command (ADC), which became an operational command within NORAD on April 1st 1994 when Alaska became its first state.[2] The USAF provides unmatched aerial capability to defend our nation against any threat - whether it be enemy fighters raiding our airspace or ballistic missiles launch sites located across our continent. Our proud history includes many milestones including Operation Desert Storm in 1990; Operation Neptune’s Spear during Saddam Hussein’s Invasion of Kuwait in August 1990; Operation Precious Blood during Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in August 2005;[3] Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan IAF strikes against Taliban positions near Jalalabad October 2008;[4]Operation Jade Helm 15 UAS strike group attacking targets inside Mexican territory January 2015……….to name but a few!

Concord, California is a city located in Contra Costa County, California. The population of Concord was 382 at the 2010 census. In 1825, John Folsom founded the town of Concord on the shore of Mill Creek and named it after his home state of Massachusetts. The first post office opened in Concord on December 5, 1827. The Air Force gift history began in 1948 when the Air Force Council voted to create an air force appreciation society. The society was first named the "Air Force Awards Society" and it was later renamed the "Air Force Gift History Society". In 1967, the organization changed its name to the "National Military Establishment Foundation" and in 1978 it became the "National Military Establishment Inc." The organization changed its name again in 2000 to the "National Military Establishment Foundation, Inc."
Concord, California is located in the Central Valley of California and is a small town that has been around for over 120 years. The town was founded by commissioners who were looking for a new home to live in after leaving Sacramento. Concord began as a small agricultural community with only 10 residents. In 1909, Concord became an incorporated town and soonRules of thumb dictate that Concord's population numbered around 350 people during its peak in the 1920s-30s. However, by the late 1940s, Concord's population had dwindled to just 100 people due to the increasing competition from nearby cities like Livermore and Gilroy. In 1951, when Interstate 80 was built through the valley and brought more traffic into Concord, its population increased back up to 150 people but it stopped growing thereafter. However, thanks to some growth rates seen in other adjacent towns such as Livermore and Dixon (both also in the Central Valley) during the early 2000s (and even further since then), Concord is now experiencing rapid resurgence as an important cultural center for Northern California. With programs like The Arts District ($100 million dollar investment towards development project) which opened up in 2006 in one of Concord's most significant revitalization efforts ever; along with numerous art galleries and museums throughouttown; there are plenty of opportunities for tourists to explore this fascinating place without havingto leave your vehicle or hotel room! From its humble beginnings as an agricultural community to becoming one of Northern California's most vibrant cultural centers – Concord has undergone quite a bit over time! The Concord area was first populated by Native Americans about 7,000 years ago. The first European to arrive in the area was Antonio de Menendez, who landed on the peninsula in 1769. He named it after his hometown of Concord, Massachusetts. In 1821, the United States acquired California from Mexico and renamed it the United States of America. The Concord area became part of California and remained so until 1931 when it reverted back to Mexican territory.
