The National Guard of Concord, California was organized on September 25, 1879. The first National Guardsmen in Concord were volunteers from the city of San Francisco. The Company A Armory guard was raised on December 3, 1879 and the Company B Armory guard on January 2, 1880. On May 15, 1880 the third company of National Guardsmen was raised in Concord. The first governor of California declared the state a national protectorate on July 14,1880 and it became an official part of the United States on February 4, 1881. President Grover Cleveland authorized the raising of a Legionry to patrol American soil for insurrectionists and anarchists. On October 15th 1904 a detachment from Company D (National Guard) served as guards at City Hall during a meeting chaired by Mayor John Waddell to discuss complaints about lawlessness in Los Angeles County. On November 6th 1907 Governor Hiram Johnson signed into law Amendment No. 9 to the Constitution providing for state military organizations similar to those existing within each participating country which included training for state police forces and service as auxiliaries to national armies if called upon by any thereof or when ordered by a federal officer acting in concert with any such organization while exercises were being held within that country under such regulations as may be prescribed by said amendment “and no person shall be compelled or required to take part in or support any particular political organization” The new army structure paralleled that established within the United States Army under General Order No 104 datedFebruary 10th 1906 which provided for assignment of units according to county lines with strengths ranging from companies battalion-sized detachments up through regimentsehundred men strong throughout all territorials although only fifty were assignedto Kern County In 1923 various amendments were passed giving greater powers and authority to commanders at unit level including direct control over expenditures and hiring practices; establishment of detention camps; promotion or termination of enlisted men; commandeering land belonging to locally owned institutions; restriction upon travel outside their home counties subject only to proper inspection occasions conferences between commanding officers convened at least once every two years whenever necessary . These changes increased troop strength but also created problems since there was no written standardization agreement among these different commands covering everything from uniforms etc.; allowances, food rations etc.; drill procedures etc., until well after World War II had ended

On July 16 of that year[1], incorporation papers were filed with the Recorder's office[2] for what would become known as "Concord", Incorporated under the laws of California.[3] In 1862–1863 [4], Samuel Morse built his experimental wireless telegraph line between New York City and Marin County through Point Reyes Station using 500 feet (150 m) long wires strung alongshore from Fort Point lighthouse to Cotati lighthouse and back again. This line is now part of National Historic Trail #1
