In 1958, Andersen AFB was renamed Torrey Field after General Curtis LeMay, who had been instrumental in convincing Congress to fund Project Signet which led to the development of jet aviation. Since then, Torrey Field has been an important airbase for USAF operations throughout Southwest Asia and Europe. In 1992, Torrey Field was redesignated Davis-Monthan AFB after Major General John C. Davis III who served as Commander of Joint Forces Command at Davis-Monthan AFB from 1989-1992. Today, Davis-Monthan AFB is one of the busiest military bases in the country with over 100 installations including 14 fighter jets and 20 bombers!
On February 28, 1853, John P. Corcoran was born in what is now Corcoran, California. The father of John P. Corcoran was a surveyor and the mother was from County Clare, Ireland. In 1858, at the age of eighteen years old John P. Corcoran removed with his parents to Northern California and entered into the mercantile business with A.H. Richardson and Company located at San Francisco Bay. It was while in this business that he met Emmeline Bemis who would become his wife in 1860. Theyraising three children: Ellen (1861-1955), Mary (1863-1947) andJohn Pourcadet (1865-1925). In 1870 John PCorcoran sold his interests in Richardson & Company to Jno Matson for $5,000 cash which allowed him to purchase 7 acres on Alameda Creek northeast of town site from James Irvine for $2 per acre ($40 per lot). On this land were built the first homes in Corcorandamont – one two story log cabin called “The Gables” which stood until 1951 when it was replaced by a more recent structure that still stands today. Mr. Matson also donated another log cabin called “The Ridge” which served as the community center until 1951 when it burned down due to arson by teenage boys! In 1875 MrPCCorporan married Miss Emma Hildebrandt and together they raised six children: Edwin Leland (1876-1963), Hazel Elizabeth Goodrich (1878-1965), Anna Louise Phelps( 1880-1967 ), Everett Clarence Phelps( 1882-1969 ),Harvey Clifford Phelps( 1886-1964 ). From their marriages five children were born: Edward Garland Phelps( 1893 -1976), Clarice Ruth Phelps( 1897 -1975), William Harvey Phelps Jr.( 1899 -1981 ), Dorothy Mildred Morse( 1901 -1982 )and Anthony Kenneth Morse( 1903 -1987 ). John PCCorporan retired from active business operations after fifty years of service in 1942 and moved permanently to his present location within the community of Corcorandamont where he has continued to live since then with his wife Emmeline Bemis and their five grandchildren plus four great grandchildren residing within the walls of their original home on Alameda Creek northeast of town site farmstead #4—the house currently known as The Gables . He remains an active participant in all aspects of life within our community including serving as Mayor pro tempore for six years during vacancy periods; presiding over all important local meetings; chairing various committees; providing leadership during difficult times; continuing to donate time, energy, money and resources towards making our community a better place for everyone .

During the 1970s, it was apparent that there was a need for an updated ballistic missile warning system (BMWS) which would provide real-time information on potential threats to our airspace without having to take chances with mission or aircraft consequences. After much deliberation, it was decided that Boeing should be chosen as project lead for this new BMWS system due to their experience with advanced radar technology? This decision set off a years long process whereby many different companies contributed their expertise and resources towards developing what would eventually become known as Northrop Grumman's MQ-4C Triton BMWS System? By 1986, work had completed on preliminary design prototypes which proved successful enough for full scale production! With this new acquisition came a whole new set of challenges including ensuring that reliable infrastructure could be built; testing and operating these systems successfully; and maintaining Aircrew readiness under combat conditions? These days, Triton BMWS Systems are used worldwide by both ground forces and helicopter pilots in support of multiple Operation Enduring Freedom missions!
