From October 1957-May 1958 Major General John W. Stockwell commanded 1st Marine Division Group (1/9 Marines) which consisted of Companies A & B (3/8 Marines), Headquarters Company (HC) 4th Battalion 8th Marines (1/2 Marine Air Wing), support units including Iwo Jima Helicopter Landing Team 2nd battalion 7th Marines assault landing team and an attached artillery battery dubbed Battery No.4 The 1st Marine Division Group soon arrived at Beirut airport where they relieved United States Army forces who had been there since May 1958 As part of Operation Anaconda, Company D also participated in amphibious assaults against several key targets ashore including Touham Airport and Beit Lahia City Hall before withdrawing from Beirut on May 14 after suffering heavy losses duringd their fighting

It is the most populous city in Ventura County and it is also the second-most populous city of Los Angeles County. The name " Corcoran" is derived from Spanish meaning "garden." The first recorded settlement in what is now Corcoran included 8 individuals who arrived on May 21, 1847 by sailing down the Santa Barbara Coast from San Diego via Lancaster and Ventura Counties. Another story suggests thatbecause Mission San Fernando de Asís ( founded in 1769) lay just east of Rancho Santa Margarita and its walls were threatened by Japanese pirates operating out of Monterey Bay. In 1836 Mexican General Antonio Lopez Vasquez ordered650 families from Alta California gathered together under harsh military guard at Tejas Barracks near modern day Thousand Oaks and marched towards Mexico City calling themselveslos Tejanos o los Misioneros del Patrimonio Nacional (the Tejanos or National Missionaries of Property National). When they reached Mexico City they found their orders had not been carried out and many of them were arrested as insurrectionists including Lopez Vasquez himself who was tried and executed as an example before his people could form a more definitive thought about how to react
