The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Corona, California in 1948. The gift was an A-4E Skyhawk fighter jet. This gift represented the first time that the USAF had deployment of this type of fighter jet to a US military installation. The A-4E was originally designed as an attack plane and its design reflects this by having a swept back canopy and large forward-firing armament. The skyhawks were initially used for air defence duty in NORAD airspace but soon found their way into combat against enemy fighters. In 1986, the USAF retired all of its skyhawks and they are now stored at Lackland AFB, Texas. There are still some remaining aircraft stored at Fresno Airport in California which is home to one of these jets, the last survivor being #5014 “Hollywood” which is currently parked there awaiting restoration. The use and history of the A-4E has been well documented with many books and articles being written about it over the years. However, another notable aspect of this jet is that it was given as a Christmas present to Corona Mayor Manuel Gomez in 1948 by then Colonel Harry Laughlin during his tour as Director of Air Defense Command (DAC). It has long been speculated that this gift may have come from then Congressman Sam Rayburn who also received a Skyhawk for Christmas that year according to certain sources. It should be noted though that no such evidence exists confirming or disproving any claim made about either event specifically pertaining to Mr Gomez or Mr Rayburns gifts. In 1984 major General John Singlaub dedicated two former skyhawks belonging to 3rd Wing Commander Donny Hathaway at Lackland AFB while they were still under restoration after beingF/A-18 Hornets operational until 1992 when they were decommissioned due to budget cuts within NASA's advanced research program known as DARPA - later renamed DoD's Advanced Research Projects Agency - henceforth known as "NASA" . These jets flew with Noirmont Flying Training School between 1984 and 1992 providing student pilots with experience flying F/A-18 Hornets before their conversion into training planes for active duty members of the USAF once again starting in 1993 - making them finally available for public display since 2002 when both wings moved from Randolph AFB TX back home on Edwards AFB CA toxic fallout clean up complete!

Corona is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 66,311 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of Corona del Mar Boulevard and Corona del Mar Airport. The city is located on an agricultural area surrounded by mountains close to the Pacific Ocean. The first Europeans to visit what is now Corona were Spanish missionaries in 1769–1770. Father Junípero Serra named it San Felipe de Guadalupe after his patron saint. In 1821, when Mexico won its independence from Spain, part of the Mexican state of Alta California was divided along the line that today bisects Corona City Limits between North and South Valleys neighborhoods - Vallejo and Yorba Linda - each claiming sovereignty over their respective portions of what are now Riverside County and Orange County as well as some small sections of San Bernardino County and Ventura County. When American settlers arrived in 1851 they founded two towns: Mission Viejo on shoreline of Laguna Beach east of Newport Coast Highway (now I-5) and Buena Park on land now inside present-day Riverside County limits to the north east (north side). Both towns were abandoned within a few years because there was no water or feed for livestock near where they stood. A Mr. Fenton established himself as an Independent Storeman at Huntington Avenue & Figueroa Street about 8 miles northeast of Mission Viejo in 1857; but this store failed within a few months due to lack of customers and competition from local stores owned by Mexicans who had moved into Southern California during Mexican rule (1846-1848). By 1865 all three settlements had disappeared except for a tiny hamlet called Rancho Cucamonga just inside present-day Moreno Valley south of I-5 along State Route 54 which became known as Pico de la Hoya Road while still being administered by Santa Ana farmers under Ute Indian military leadership until white man's occupation began in 1876 A post office was established at Rancho Cucamonga on March 1, 1865, serving both Missions Viejo and Buena Park until October 30th 1870 when it merged with those at Mission Dolores northeast Of town On November 4th 1870 General Kearny ordered Lieutenant Colonel James Tilton commanding Third Brigade Second Division Provisional Military Government troops through Paso Robles passaging through Sylmar Canyon southwestward to seize Los Angeles River crossings he believed would enable Japan to enter California without resistance .Tilton's brigade reached La Crescentita Pass about 9am finding no obstructions but descending into Chino Creek Canyon below found several small Modoc villages sheltering 6160 Modoc warriors collected over 5 days before moving northwest across canyon floor parallel river banks destroyed houses crops irrigation pipelines storage reservoirs constructed various bridges road improvements connecting these various points forming present day US 101st Stgading route Known Today As "Corona Blvd."

Corona, California is located in Kern County, California. It is bordered by BakersFIELD to the east, Tehachapi Mountains to the west and Los Angeles County to the south. The population of Corona was estimated at 22,871 as of 2010. The name "Corona" comes from Spanish settlers who called this area "Rocafort." At one time, Corona had a post office named Independence but it was changed in 1881 to Corona. The first permanent settler in what is now Corona was Francisco Sanchez who arrived on horseback in 1776. He built a cabin on an acacia tree hill overlooking the Susana River. Mrs. Sanchez's husband, José de la Cruz y Cisneros erected a log cabin near present-day Reseda in 1777–78 and he married Mrs. Sanchez that year. In 1782 Captain Manuel Nieto of Mission San Gabriel founded Rancho Rinconada along the banks of the river north of present-day Hearst Castle. Mexican land grants were made available for Rancho Rinconada citizens Juan Rodríguez and Bernardo Yorba on November 12, 1821; José María Pico y Vargas received a grant dated March 8, 1825; Antonio Blanco received a grant dated February 6th 1830; Manuel Nieto granted an additional rancho known as La Encinas (the enchins) on December 15th 1831…. This region saw heavy farming until after World War II when production shifted to maize and other crops…. After World War II most people left because there were no jobs or new housing available…. Today some people live in town while others commute into larger cities for work…. The only park within 10 miles of town is Redondo Beach Park which opened in 1922 with land donated by developer Harvey Ditkin… On October 9th 1861 William Mears delivered lumber from Chihuahua Province to Atherton (now Pasadena) for shipment downriver to Stockton before reaching Fresno via General Grant’s Pacific Railroad under contract with Don Carlos Menéndez Sepúlveda….. By 1865 there were over 150 mills operating throughout Kern County including 11 owned by Mears & Co…."Mears also began importing coal from Sutter Coal Company’s mines at Oroville…In 1870 Jens Jensen started making radios using parts salvaged from wrecked ships lost during the great pandemic…… later that decade he developed his own line of radios which became nationally known." By 1900 more than 1,500 businesses operated out of downtown Corona employing around 19% of all local workers…."After years of debate between city officials and farmers over water usage quotas following Prohibition passed by Congressudder Folsom signed legislation appropriating $5 million dollars for water conservation purposes within 2 years…..This action led directly to improvements such as expanded irrigation systems southwestward into Tulare County…."In 1933 Mayor Waddell appointed John Whelan Municipal Water District engineer and Director emeritus resigned effective January 1st 1934 due health problems." The bridge across the river became obsolete after having been repaired 7 times since its opening memorializing both Nixon's inauguration as Governor on June 4th 1969and Ford's inauguration 26 days later becoming first US president ever forced out onto US soil
The city of Corona was founded on November 15, 1871, by James W. Irvine and others. It became an incorporated municipality on May 1, 1896. When the railroad arrived in the area in1888, Cortland H. Wright donated land for a depot and town hall. The first post office opened in 1889. In 1913, Corona annexed neighboring unincorporated parts of Riverside County to become a single municipality with its own council and government. The Olmsted Brothers designed the original municipal building which still stands today on Main Street near Interstate 5 (in what is now west Los Angeles).
