The Coast Guard gift history in Corona, California dates back to the early 1920s. The first Coast Guard station in Corona was established on October 21, 1922. At that time, it was known as Station "C" and was located on Harbor Boulevard. In 1933, the then-new Coast Guard Station "A" was established adjacent to what is now the City of Corona's Recreation Center. This new station served as the primary coast guard presence in Corona until 1941 when a second station, Station "B", was opened at Third Street and El Camino Real. On November 30, 1951, the Department of Defense transferred control of the USCG from its predecessor Naval Reserve to the newly created Border Patrol Service (BP). As part of this transfer, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (HQHS) were relocated from San Diego to Corpus Christi. As a result of this change in ownership, Station "A" became HQHS squadron number 2 (CB2), while Station "B" became HQHS squadron number 1 (CB1). Inaugurated on January 1st 1954 were new headquarters for Headquarters Squadron 2 CB2 at Terminal Island Air National Guard Base before moving permanently to their current location within Terminal Island on May 15th 1954. With these changes came an increase in mission responsibilities for both stations including defense against smugglers and pirates; Search and rescue; law enforcement operations; disaster relief; and many more. Headquarters Squadron 2 CB2 continued their support of Homeland Security by providing security for events such as President George W Bush's inauguration Inauguration Day or Super Bowl XLVI on February 4th 2009 which marked only the third time that they had been called into action during such an event since 1948 when they responded to two coronavirus incidents outside San Diego County. They also provided security for various American Idol performances throughout Southern California between 2006-2009 along with other events such as The Golden Globes telecast in 2013 where they provided security for up to 100 guests each night during those shows across multiple venues around Los Angeles County.. As part of commemorating its 50 years anniversary in 2019–2024 Coast Guard Station #1 CB1 will be retiring effective December 31st 2024 with all employees being transitioned over gradually beginning January 1st 2025 through August 31st 2025 inclusive[…]

Corona, California is a city in the Central Valley region of California. The population was 33,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sacramento–San Joaquin Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area and is the seat of Kings County. The city is located on both sides of State Route 99 and has a total area of 26 square miles (66 km2). The history of Corona dates back to 1853 when gold was discovered in what is now known as Rancho San Rafael, just east of present-day Corona. In 1858, parts of Rancho San Pablo were acquired by Colonel Doniphan for $5,000 (). colonel doniphan named the town after himself, Carlos Manuel de Mora y Salinas, 1st Viscount Mora. The land around Corona became available for settlement in 1860 when John Sutter discovered gold near modern-day Folsom and sold sections to individuals and companies. For years there was little activity in Corona because transportation was difficult to come by and goods had to be transported overland from Fresno or Stockton. However, with improvements in railroads and roads during the late 1800s things began to change. In 1902, Orangeville Road was completed between downtown Corona and neighboring Placentia which made it much easier for people to get around without having to ride into town on horseback or Vehicles pulled by mules (). ThisRoad would later become State Route 99 which ran through central today’s Corona In 1912 he opened up his successful grocery store chain anchored by Sears Roebuck & Co., one that still thrives today (). In 1916 Captain James Waddell founded JW Waddell Sons Marine Stores which became one of America’s largest marine retailers () In 1935 Jack Benny started his first radio show here (), continuing until 1957 when it moved elsewhere () The City Council voted 3-1 on November 10th, 1951 to allow cows on public property within 50 feet (15 m)of any building subject to slaughtering; this ordinance preved passage of Proposition 6 () On July 20th 1964 an earthquake occurred measuring 7.0 magnitude (), causing severe damage throughout northern California (); however no injuries were reported in either Newport Beach or Corona

The Coast Guard played an important role in America's defense during World War II, particularly through its role in the Battle of Midway. After the war, the Coast Guard shifted its focus to maritime security and began providing humanitarian assistance throughout the world. In recent years, however, the Coast Guard has become more focused on environmental protection and public safety. One of the most well-known Coast Guardsmen is Adm. John Richardson who served as Commander-in-Chief of U.S. Northern Command from 2005 to 2009 and led Operation Neptune's Spear which targeted Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network in Afghanistan

Corona is a city in the Unincorporated area of Kern County, California, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. Corona is located on the eastern edge of Kern County and 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Bakersfield. It is part of the Bakersfield–Oakland–Fremont Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlement in present-day Corona was made on November 25, 1851 by prospectors John Sutter and George Hearst when they discovered gold near what would later be known as Geyserville. They named their town after Kingdon's Creek, which ran through Rancho San Felipe de Arroyo de la Costa, now part of downtown Bakersfield. On October 15, 1852, a group led by Captain John Cady crossed the Caddoan River from Tulare County to Browns Valley in present-day Kern County and founded what would become Carson City. The new town had no post office and only consisted of six adobe buildings that were used as stores, barracks for soldiers quartered there during the Mexican–American War (1846-48), and as a temporary hospital for war invalids. When Captains Jack Hennepin and James McDowell discovered gold near Coronado on October 24, 1853, they founded Carson City also; however it did not have any immediate significance because it was more than 10 miles (16 km) away from either Gold Rushtown or its eventual successor Sacramento. In 1857 an act became effective which authorized building of a public school system within each county in California; this was followed by construction of school buildings throughout Orange County beginning in 1861.
