The Corona National Guard was organized on December 15, 1916. The original unit consisted of ten men and one women. The first mission of the Corona National Guard was to provide security for the city during World War I. After the war, the Guard began providing ambulance service and other support services to the community. In 1940, a new armory was built in Corona and the Guard moved into it. The Armory is now used as an event center by local organizations.
Corona, California is a city located in Riverside County, California. It is the seat of Orange County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 105,867. The city was founded on November 12, 1911 by two brothers who named it after their home town of Corona de Anza in southern San Diego County. The original population of about 25 people included seven men and five women who lived on a farmstead near what is now Orangetown Road and Lake Hodges Drive. In 1912, the City Council decided to build a new municipal building which would serve as both government center and library for the entire city. The first meeting of the City Council took place atropa-tically in front of Mayor George Condon's home on First Street between Park Avenue and Ponce Boulevard. On December 1st 1911, voters approved incorporation of Corona with a total vote (51% yes to 49% no) over seventy-eight ballots cast. On January 3rd 1912, Borough President Edwin Ladd served as mayor pro tempore with Wm Halsey serving as vice president because there were no other candidates for office on that date. After completing his term as mayor pro tempore on February 8th 1912, Ladd vacated his position to run for Congress from Riverside County instead but lost to Republican John Curtin by just 241 votes out of 2 million cast statewide that year[1]. The following year saw some growth within Corona when two small businesses – Los Angeles & Pacific Railway Company (LAP) and American Telephone & Telegraph Company (ATT) – merged into one large company making them both charter members of what would become known as The Big Three telecommunications providers in Southern California: Western Union Telegraph Co., Bell Atlantic Telephone Corporation (BALT), and AT&T [2]. This move signaled an important change within Corona which had been largely rural until then; before then most telephone service had been provided by long distance carriers such as Western Union or Bell Atlantic while residences primarily relied upon local wireline operators like American Telephone & Telegraph Company or LA&P Railroad Operating Company). With KTLA Channel 4 being established in 1961,[3], cable services became available throughout much of Southern California providing subscribers with quality programming not found prior to this time including high definition satellite TV service available through Charter Communications[4] today! In recent years many homes have been renovated into multiple dwelling units called “micro apartments” due to significant rent discounts currently offered through Corona’s Housing Authority thereby increasing demand for housing in an increasingly unaffordable area[5]. Development has continued unabated however with plans underway for an even larger project scheduled for completion early 2020 dubbed First Colony Tower which will be situated atop a $500 million redevelopment project encompassing 1120 acres land near Interstate 10 and I-15 interchange Northwest Side neighborhood having potential retail tenantships included Macy’s Inc., Sears Holdings Corporation,[6] JCPenney Incorporated,[7] Staples Center - Home Depot Stores,[8][9] KFC ©and Papa John's Pizza.[10] There are also mixed use development proposals pending approval regarding mixed use projects such as upmarket hotels/motels/restaurants along I-10 corridor adjacent freeway lanes eastward toward downtown Riverside)[11], light industrial uses westward towards I-15 expressway exit 221[12], single family homes westward towards downtown Riverside[13][14],[15], planned subdivisions northward towards Interstate 5 interchange

In 1957, Corona became an incorporated city with a population of over 100,000 people. The city has seen significant growth since then and currently has a total population of over 250,000 people. In 1821, Don José Corona founded the first permanent settlement in what is now Corona County. In 1825, a group of Spanish-American settlers under the leadership of Captain Amador Carrillo arrived in the area and began to explore the potential for farming and ranching. They named their new community San Pedro de la Rúa after St. Peter's River, which they saw as a key water route into California. The town gradually grew and by 1851 had a population of about 150 people. In 1857, General Antonio López de Santa Anna was elected president of Mexico and announced his intention to annex California into Mexico. This caused a great deal of excitement in the Mexican American community because they felt that their land had been taken without their consent and without due process. As a result, many Mexicans who were living in California started to leave for fear of being deported back to Mexico if they didn't comply with Mexican rule. Don José Corona decided to fight tooth and nail against Mexican annexation efforts, but he ultimately lost his battle. By 1861, most of the original Spanish colonists had moved out or died from disease brought over by the warring parties involved in it (the Californios versus the Mexicans). The only remaining Spaniards in what is now Corona County were those who lived on government land within Mexican borders; these people continued to use Spanish language and culture until well into the 20th century. The post-war years were difficult for all kinds of immigrant groups: Japanese Americans living near Los Angeles flourished while other groups such as Italian immigrants struggled during this time period; however, some members of these groups did achieve success such as Harry Bridges who became one of America's wealthiest men during this time
