This system allowed civilians to purchase firearms without being subject to regulation. From 1934-1968, Gun Lover's Department Store was located at 7 N Market Street in Covina. After Wertheimer's death, his son Harry Jr. took over the store and continued selling handguns until 1984 when it closed its doors for good. During its time at 7 N Market Street, gun lovers were able to buy everything from pistols to rifles and shotguns. Throughout its years of operation, Gun Lover's Department Store had an extensive stock of handguns which helped make Covina one of the most firearm friendly communities in Southern California.

Covina is a small, unincorporated community located in Riverside County, California. The name "Covina" comes from the Spanish words "cochinas" meaning "a kind of grape." The first post office was established in Covina on November 20, 1903. Covina has had one mayor and three trustees since it was incorporated as a town in 1914. The history of Covina begins with the early pioneers who arrived in 1849 when Rancho San Bernardino was granted to José Gabriel Baca and Vicente Guerrero. They named their new rancho Las Cochinas because they found grapevines growing thereabouts. In 1853, Jose de la Torre y Conejo purchased some of the property from the Baca/Guerrero family and set about developing it into a cattle ranch that would eventually include over 1,000 acres (500 ha). La Torre created a strongly agricultural society which prospered until 1906, when he sold his holdings to John Dominguez for $10,000. Dominguez soon hired Edward Gifford to help him plant citrus trees on his properties south of Covina and west of Riverside City Limits. Gifford's successors continued this successful program until 1915 when John Laughlin organized what became known as the Laughlin-Laughlin Company and bought out Dominguez's interest in the tract for $27 million. This company operated most of Southern California until 1941 when it merged with Northern California's Burns-Lipton Corporation to form United Artists film production empire.) In 1933, during World War II, Covina was home to Camp Pendleton Naval Base where U.S Marine Corps troops trained during The War; afterwards they were reassigned to other locations throughout California before finally being disbanded at Cavite Naval Air Station on December 15th 1945 . Afterward many Marines moved back into Covina including Commander Royce Jenson who served as Commandant at Camp Pendleton from 1974-1978After that time many businesses opened up around town such as Applebees restaurant which opened its first location in 1978 Today there are few remaining traces or reminders of what once happened here; however much has been lost over time due primarily to vandalism by vandals and those looking for easy targets rather than preserving our history! There have been efforts made over recent years by residents and organizations such as Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) and American Rivers Foundation (ARF) both within Riverside County specifically as well as outside our county through joint projects such as historic preservation work done on various buildings within our city limits by volunteers while also working collaboratively with other agencies which have aided us greatly throughout this process - all without taking away from or infringing upon any rights currently held by any individual or organization involved herein
