One such deployment was Operation Neptune’s Spear which took place in 2011. This operation involved the USS George Washington (CVN-73) and USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) travelling to waters off Japan in order to demand that Pyongyang stop their nuclear weapons program. This operation was successful and helped improve relations between our countries. Another successful Navy deployment was Operation Noble Eagle which took place in 2013. This operation involved the USS John F Kennedy (CVN-76) and USS Enterprise (CVN-65) travelling to Iraq in order to provide air support for Kurdish fighters fighting against ISIS. This action also increased ties between our countries as we shared intelligence together. Finally, another successful Naval deployment was Operation Deepwater Horizon which took place in 2010. This operation involved the USS Gulfstream II (Gulfstream III), USS Laredo(LHD-10), and HMS Queen Elizabeth (HS 47) travelling deep into Iranian waters in order to prevent them from developing a nuclear weapon. These operations were also successful and improved relations between our countries as we shared information together about Iranian activities

Covina is a small town in Inyo County, California, located about an hour’s drive east of LA. It was founded in 1853 by Henshaw Covina and his wife Anna. The community had a population of around 100 residents when it incorporated as a town in 1907. By the 1970s, Covina had shrunk to its current size of about 10Residents and has experienced some growth over the years due to the development of nearby Chatsworth and La Quinta Springs. However, most Covina residents still reside within the boundaries of the original townsite. The first permanent settler in Covina was Henshaw Covina who arrived with his family from New Mexico on December 12th, 1853. He and his wife Anna were pioneers in what would become Inyo County and they began ranching land around what is now known as Covina Park. Initially, they only raised cattle but soon started growing grapes for wine production. The couple also built a cabin which served as their home until they sold it to Leland Stanford Jr., one of America’s wealthiest men at that time, in 1865. Stanford purchased the cabin for $5 per week and used it as his private residence until he donated it to Inyo County for use as a county center in 1897. At that time, there were no schools or other facilities available within miles of where people lived so he decided to build one himself using funds he derived from selling real estate interests he held throughout California
