Cudahy is a city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 24,873 at the 2010 census. It forms the core of the San Bernardino-Andover-Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cudahy is located on Hwy 1 south of downtown and north of Ontario Airport. The first Europeans to visit what is now Cudahy were Spanish missionaries in 1821. In 1866, General Mariano Rivera built a small mission here and named it San Bernardino del Valle de las Flores (San Bernardino Valley of Flowers). The valley became known as Riverside because many people from Riverside moved here during the early years of this century to escape duststorms in Los Angeles. A post office called Crescent City was established at Crescent City Creek in 1850, but it never grew large enough for the town's growth; however, Crescent City creek has been mentioned by name numerous times in various deeds and reports throughout its history. In 1864, Rancho Coyote Grant was acquired by José Joaquin Mora from Manuel Nieto and Patricio Nunez for $3 million (). Mora renamed it Cucamonga after his father who had settled there in 1794 near modern-day Covina Hills. The grant included , including present day Cudahy along with most of eastern Kern County and parts of Orange County (); part of the rancho went to José Romero y Costilla when he married Ana Luisa Sánchez de la Garza; part went to Antonio Obregon when he took over Mexico's campaign against Francisco Villa; all except about were given back to Nieto upon his death in 1875 (). Rancho Coyote Grant formed one half of what is now Los Angeles County (). On November 16, 1912 a fire destroyed much of downtown Cudahy which forced abandonment for several days until firefighters could return and pour water onto the flames from tanks truckloads brought upriver. Prior thereto some residents had fled into scrubland eastward on First Street towards Ontario Airport where they remained hidden until military reinforcements arrived that night under orders not to enter any buildings without specific orders from higher authorities due fear that such an act would ignite more fires elsewhere within Guggenheim Park which lay adjacent to First Street airport property across from downtown . On December 2nd 1912 newspapers reported that President Theodore Roosevelt had sent Special Agent Edward Munchfield with orders "not allow any destruction or damage whatever taking place within" Guggenheim Park so long as no troops were present! With these events unfolding just blocks away many people who evacuated during the fire returned home only too find their homes consumed by flames again! This made headlines around North America less than 4 weeks prior to Christmas 1912 !!! To this day there are few photos or memories documenting this event other than oral histories passed down through family members

Cudahy is a small town in the Inland Empire of California, located on the south side of San Bernardino County. The population was 3,878 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Cudahy post office opened in 1886, and continued serving until it was discontinued in 1954. The town was named after Captain George Cudahy (1819-1892), an American Civil War veteran and member of the Board of Supervisors for Riverside County from 1885 to 1893. He served as mayor of San Bernardino from 1887 to 1889 and again from 1897 to 1899. In 1916, a large oil well was drilled in what is now Cudahy and nearby Unadilla Township; production began soon afterward and helped spur growth in both towns over the next few decades. The drilling also stimulated development around Unadilla Lake which would become one of Southern California's most important tourist attractions thanks to its crystal clear water purity and spectacular views. Today those same views continue to be enjoyed by visitors who come here for fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, sightseeing or just spending time outside with friends or family. As other industries grew up around Unadilla Lake - such as agriculture and manufacturing - so did prices for land adjacent to the lake start spiraling out of control; this led to tension between residents near Unadilla Lake and those further away when property values started advancing faster than infrastructure could keep up with demand (see: Water crisis). This issue would boil over into fullblown violence several times throughout the late 20th century before finally resolving itself through referendum voting (See: Unadilla Lake standoff). Today much has changed since then - including increased traffic congestion on both sides of Interstate 10 - but aspects such as pristine open space still remain a draw for tourists visiting Cudahy today.
The area now known as Cudahy was first settled by the Pomo people in the late 1800s. The city of Cudahy was founded in 1912, and it became a key town in the San Joaquin Valley due to its location on the banks of the San Joaquin River. In 1938, Cudahy was renamed for Edwin M. Cudahy, an American politician who served as United States Senator from California from 1952 to 1966.
