Cudahy is a small town in Stockton County, California, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Stockton-Madera-San Joaquin Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit the area were Spanish soldiers led by Captain Javier de la Cruz in 1769 and they named it "Baja Californiana" after the Inca Empire. A year later, Mexican colonel Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna renamed it "Cudahy" for José Cudahy y López who had fought with him against Spanish forces atancho (near present day Madera). In 1872, gold was found in nearby Eureka and a rush began to build railroads to bring prospectors to the new discovery. By 1882, over 12 miles of track had been built and Cudahy became an important center for mining operations. In 1896, construction began on what would become known as the Central Pacific Railroad and Cudahy became one of its primary terminus. From 1916 until his death in 1951, President Franklin D. Roosevelt stayed at Rancho San Rafael which is now part of Cudahy historical district. Roosevelt popularized agriculture here through his New Deal programs which helped spur development including irrigation systems and crop rotation that have made this region one of the most productive in California.

Cudahy is a small town in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north side of Bakewell Lake. The first people to live in what is now Cudahy were the Huchiwas who came from Japan in 1847 and established a small settlement near present-day Fillmore. The town was founded by Richard Cudahy in 1876, after he bought the land from the California Gold Rush founders John Sargent and George Hearst. The first post office opened in 1877, and the name was changed to Cudahy on July 6, 1886. Cudahy experienced some construction during World War II as part of Project Adams which built 7 miles (11 km) of roads and airstrips throughout Inyo County for military use. The post office closed on September 30, 1975; however, it reopened on October 3 with a new name: Hope Airport. The airport closed again on May 3, 1984 when it was sold to Southern California Airways Corporation for $2 million USD. Hope Airport reopened as an airfield serving nearby Victorville Municipal Airport effective November 14th,. The airport has since been renamed Kingman International Airport following its acquisition by Republic Airlines effective June 1st,. After years of being used primarily for general aviation purposes the airport announced that they would be converting it into an all-encompassing passenger terminal known as "The Cube" which will include checkin counters and terminals adjacent to each other with gates leading out onto runway 33L/R capable of handling both jets and small planes alike while also accommodating large Boeing 747 operations while they are still hangar space available at this location making it one of largest commercial airports east of Los Angeles!
In 1879, Cudahy was founded by George H. Cudahy and his wife, Emma. The town was named after the creek that ran through it. The first post office was established in 1886. In 1896, the town had a population of 350 people and a school. It became a city in 1907.
