Gourmet coffee has been discovered here before, but it wasn't until the early 1990s that gourmet coffee began to be popularized in Cudahy. The first restaurant in Cudahy that served gourmet coffee was called "The Coffee Shop". It was opened by Tom and Linda D’Angelo in 1991. They were the first people to open a restaurant specifically devoted to serving gourmet coffee. At the time, they only had two machines - one for roasting and one for grinding beans - so they had to make do with what they had. However, their customers soon got tired of just regular Starbucks-quality coffee and started demand more unique flavors and even higher quality ingredients than what was available at their local grocery store. Today there are several restaurants throughout town that serve delicious gourmet coffee made from high quality beans from all over the world. Some of these establishments include The Coffee House (which closed in 2017), The Grapes & More Cafe (which closed in 2018), and Joe's Coffee & Tea Company (which is still open). Cudahey is a census-designated place (CDP) in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 2,914 at the 2010 census. The area that would become Cudahy was first settled by Mission Indians in the 18th century. In 1858, gold was found on the nearby hills and settlers began to arrive. By 1860, there were about 175 people living in what is now Cudahy. The town of Cudahy was founded on July 1, 1861 by Doniphan and Wm. Hodge from Illinois as a result of the Gold Rush in California. It became an incorporated town on December 10 of that year. In 1865, Jno. Bogan opened the first general store in what is now Cudahy with his brother John Bogan serving as owner and manager until his death in 1887. Between 1870 and 1890 steamships called "Alamo" stopped at Laguna Beach for supplies passenger ships carrying miners overland brought upriver to Niles Canyon near Redlands due south of San Diego Bay where they unloaded their cargo onshore then traveled back upstream to Aliso Viejo before continuing downriver to Crescent City; this process allowed goods not only from Redlands but also from Imperial Valley which upriver lay within easy reach via land crossings known as "channel crossings." This trade route ended when US Route 66 was built through Orange County connecting Los Angeles with Las Vegas via Simi Valley The discovery of oil fields adjacent to Lompoc led to rapid growth of industry around 1915 when local farmers began farming oil shale located between Lompoc Point and Porterville east of Highway 101 This led to increased development around Porterville including new housing developments such as Hillcrest Estates which are still visible today on Porterville Boulevard just north of Carlsbad Road later that decade major shipping companies such as Consolidated Oil Company laid down pipelines extending into Porterville en route to Southern California

The first inhabitants of what became Cudahy were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game near present day Sacramento. A post office was established at Cudahy in 1879, and until 1911 it was known as Hacienda de las Cruces. The community developed primarily due to a boom in agricultural production during World War II, when new irrigation systems were built to accommodate increased farm acreage. In 1974, local lumber companies merged to form Sperry & Hutchinson Inc., which continues to be one of Cudahy's most important employers. Today, many residents commute into Fresno or other nearby cities for work or education; however, there are also several businesses that remain open aroundtown such as an ice cream parlor and a convenience store. Many buildings from early days still stand in the town including Hacienda de las Cruces Preserve where pioneer farmers raised cattle and hogs; today it features restaurant and retail space used by local businesses including two churches as well as housing for elderly citizens who no longer can live independently.

The population of Cudahy peaked at 10,000 people in 1970 but declined due to declining agricultural production and an increase in traffic congestion on Main Street.
