The California National Guard was organized on December 16, 1846 as the First Battalion of Volunteers California Militia. It was reorganized on January 3, 1852 as the Second Battalion of Volunteers California Militia. On July 4, 1861, the battalion was redesignated the Fourth Battalion of Volunteer Infantry California Militia and on February 13, 1862 it became the Fifth Battalion of Volunteer Infantry California Militia. The battalion was again redesignated as the Sixth Battalion of Volunteer Infantry California Militia on November 7, 1862 and eventually became part of the 9th Regiment (National Guard) in 1865. On September 2, 1880, all volunteer infantry battalions were consolidated into the Ninth Regiment (National Guard), becoming a regiment with a brigade structure under command of an Army major general. In March 1903 this regiment was redesignated as III Corps Reserve Military Police Brigade and concurrently activated at Stockton to serve as military police for that city. The brigade disbanded in October 1913 due to jurisdictional issues with other units in that corps. In 1916 elements of II Corps Reserve Military Police Brigade served with I Corps during World War I; these soldiers were later reassigned to duty within III Corps Reserve Military Police Brigade which remained inactive until reactivation in October 1933 by order from President Franklin D. Roosevelt specifically for use during World War II whenII Corps Reserve Military Police Brigade became component unit(s)of IX United States Army Security Forces Command). On April 15, 1942 VIII USMC Street Artillery Regiment activated at Camp Pendleton for assignment to IX USCSA's 8th Marine Division having previously been assigned to VI USMC's 5th Marines stationed at Pearl Harbor Hawaii; both regiments soonBecame attached to newly activated X Japanese Empire Force Detachment at Fort Shafter Near Honolulu Territory Of Hawaii pending assignment from XX American Defense Forces after Japanese Invasion Of Hawaiian Isolation Plan failed because General MacArthur refused authority for deployment). Inactivated on May 24 1945 following Japan surrender
The National Guard is a duty-free citizens militia that is comprised of both men and women. The Militia Act of 1792 created the National Guard with the intent of providing “a body to meet in case of insurrection or invasion, and to suppress all insurrections and Edward’s Rebellion.” The Militia Act also authorizes the President to call up one thousand soldiers from each state for three months without Congressional approval. The National Guard is an important part of our defense system. It provides law enforcement, disaster relief, medical assistance, and more. National Guardsmen serve in many different roles throughout their states. Some examples include drill sergeant for local troops, military intelligence officer for state troopers, hostage negotiator, traffic controller, or even just a person who can help out when needed. They are also volunteers who are not required to serve in any particular role but are instead called up based on their location or skillset. There have been many changes over time related to the National Guard including the pandemic pandemic that caused its inception in 2001 and then the terrorist attacks that caused it to become even more important in response. Currently there are over 1 million members active within the National Guard across America with plans set for 2 million by 2020 as well as future expansions outside of America if necessary. Cudahy is a small town in San Bernardino County, California. It was founded in 1906 by James Cudahy and his wife Emma. The town's ZIP code is 91722. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,127 residents. The town is named after Confederate General Cudahy and his wife Emma who were both from Illinois. In 1881, James Cudahy married Anna Laughlin who also came from Illinois. They had two children: James Davenport Jr., born in 1882, and Emma Augusta; died at age 2 in 1886 of diphtheria contracted while visiting her family in Illinois. Her death made their son James Davenport III a legal adult and he inherited her estate which included the townsite of Cudahy, California. James Davenport III moved to Los Angeles with his family in 1916 when he became an American war correspondent for "The Chicago Tribune". He later served as mayor of Los Angeles from 1951-1957 and again from 1969-1975 before retiring as mayor to become Vice President of Business Development for Warner Bros.. In 1978 he founded the Community Foundation of Southern California where he still presides over day-to-day operations today. In 1984 he donated $5 million to found UCLA's Osher School of Medicine which now specializes in cancer care.. He also cofounded the John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum near Hyannis Port on Martha’s Vineyard with former President John F Kennedy’s widow Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy II and philanthropist Robert Hutton which opened its doors on October 1, 2011. In 2013, Mr. Davenport donated $25 million to establish the University of Southern California'sMarshall School of Business Administration which will offer a full range of business programs leading up to professional licensure or certification as a business owner or manager in any field including accounting technology sales representatives/managers/chief financial officers

In 1853,Mexican immigrants, including José Cudahy and his brother Francisco, founded the town of Cudahy on theranch of Rancho Los Olivos in what is now eastern Riverside County. The name was derived from a term for "hollow" or "inaccessible place." The Olivos brothers had come from central Mexico to find land where they could farm. They named their rancho after two small hills in their hometown of San Fernando Valley. In 1858, José Cudahy married Maria Antonietta Alvarez and started a family; they would continue to live there until her death in 1916. Cudahy became an agricultural center due to its location at the crossroads of several wagon routes that transported goods north to LA and south to San Bernardino County. It also benefited from irrigation systems completed by Don Miguel de la Hoz in 1875. With the arrival of railroads in the late 1800s, trade increased between Bakersfield and East LA, which forced businesses such as J & L Barber Shop, Wagon Wheel Brewery and Smith's Clothing Store out of business. However, many residents still relied on agriculture for their livelihoods. Many old-time farmers still practices hand picking fruits and vegetables or growing corn on their property today. The townsite was platted by George Prentice in 1859 as part of a larger grant he received from Governor Manuel Nieto for his help with border defense lime kilns needed for building roads along the southern border. At first called northeast corner post office because it lay east of Rancho Los Olivos (now east Riverside), Cudahy began receiving mail from other parts of California starting in 1861 when ranchers closed up shop around here because no more wagons were coming through to pick them up anymore! A post office was established at town limits on May 1st 1861 under the name “Northeast Corner Post Office” but service ceased due to lack of mail volume shortly thereafter... By 1865 both J & L Barber Shop (owned by James Earle) and Wagon Wheel Brewery (owned by John Woolridge) were closedtered outside the original boundaries established when town limits were set...It's generally thought that this may have been done as retaliation forexpansion into adjacent unincorporated territory led by Hiram Huntley who had opened up much acreage within town limits since early 1860s despite claims by some officials that Huntley's activities constituted 'illegal occupation' or encroachment upon exclusive Mexican rights...This event is significant not only because it signaledthe endofa periodof relativepeaceand tranquilitywithintownlimitsbut alsobecauseitdemonstratedthe powerofcommerceoutsidetownlimitstoshapeourlives
